Quote# 143206

(Lyrics to "Ain't No Rest for the Triggered")

Well I shared a thought online
It was an innocuous tweet
I didn't really think much of it at the time
But then a couple of days later
I was fired from my job
And the reason left me well beyond surprised
Someone had taken what I said
Wrote a ridiculous op-ed
And spread it all over the goddamn internet
I came in contact with the author
And I asked her, "Hey, what gives"
She messaged me and this is what she said:

"Oh, there ain't no rest for the triggered
We're easily displeased
We've got hair to dye
We've got tears to cry
Please gimme your sympathy
No I won't let loose, I get my news
From places like Salon
No there ain't no rest for the triggered
Donate to my Patreon"

Not even fifteen minutes later
I had come across a crowd
It was a protest over something someone said
They called for the resignation
Of a man who seemed quite patient
In explaining what it was he really meant
Apparently the crowd was mad
That he didn't wanna ban
Halloween costumes that might have offended some
When I tried to intervene
A lady lunged out right at me
She summoned some muscle, and then began to hum

"Oh, there ain't no rest for the triggered
We're easily displeased
We've got hair to dye
We've got tears to cry
Please gimme your sympathy
No I won't let loose, I get my news
From places like Polygon
No there ain't no rest for the triggered
Donate to my Patreon"

So now a couple hours passed
I'm walking up to my front door
But from my peripheral vision I could see
That a man had dropped his keys
And like a gymnast on trapeze
I caught them in mid-air and said, "Sir, you dropped these"
He turned around in pure disgust
He said, "I'm not even a man
I'm a bigendered girl with manly tendencies"
I said, "Okay, Sir, whatever"
And he called up the police
Now I'm serving six to ten because I dared to disagree

"Oh, there ain't no rest for the triggered
We're easily displeased
We've got hair to dye
We've got tears to cry
Please gimme your sympathy
No I won't let loose, I get my news
From places like Salon
No there ain't no rest for the triggered
Donate to my Patreon"

Crowd: "What, we triggered?"

Doubting Thomas

I love how they call the left "triggered" when they're the ones who get outraged over abortion, gay people getting married, or removing a cross from government property.

There was no rest for CRG from 2008 to 2016.

So mocking SJWs, who are actual fundies and quite vile, is fundie now?

Chris Ray Gun's not a conservative, nor is he a fundie in any sense of the word. And he put a lot of effort into that song in his series "Social Justice: The Musical",

Meh'ed.

Christ Ray Gun is a liberal and isn't against abortion, gay marriage, nor do I think he's even Christian.

Yeah no. That "we've got hair to dye" line alone makes it clear that however the creator may define themselves, they're parroting alt-right points. As if that wasn't obvious from the many other "witty" points made in this godawful song.

Alt-Wrong Vogon Poetry returns!

Also; You can't get more "Triggered" than dopes like the OP! They're triggered by everything; Soup ads, Cereal ads, Star Wars, Capt. Marvel, women in pants, Taylor Swift, etc.

**************

@Denizen
If this is a Progressive's satire of what a Regressive would say, it needs to be labeled clearer and not quoted here.

So again anyone who criticizes SJWs and their fundamentalist ideologies is automatically alt-right? That's dangerous black and white thinking and proves the song's point about daring to disagree.

There's something that may be shocking to you: you can hate social justice warriors and still be considered a liberal and vote democrat! Yeah amazing right! Like the vast majority of liberals who think that SJWs are annoying, racist, sexist, dangerous and ignorant as the very Alt-Right they claim to be fighting. You can also be a conservative and hate Neo-Nazis and racism, like the vast majority of conservatives do! Again, amazing!

And another thing: Chris Ray Gun mocks conservatives and the alt right as well. He is not conservative by any stretch of the definition. You can still find social justice warriors repugent and still support liberal causes and still hate conservatives and Trump. To question extremes left or right is the very opposite of fundamentalism and this quote is therefore not fundie. What ideology is Chris Ray Gun adhering to exactly? Is criticizing and mocking SJWS, who in my opinion deserve all the mocking they can get, a religious belief now?

Please do research into the actual person. Don't take a single word choice and define him from that. "Oh this guy must hate abortion and women in pants." No, he isn't. And you make yourself look foolish in doing so.

Also Google image "SJW". The dyed hair is an actual thing, not an ignorant stereotype. Also google how many people's lives were actually destroyed when one of them dared disagree with an SJW online, like the character in the song. They weren't thrown in prison (not yet), but Ray Gun exaggerates.

If we pigeon hole anyone who criticizes social justice or our favorite political ideology, we make ourselves look foolish and are no better than the fundies who think that all gays are pedophiles.

And for the record, Captain Marvel was a shit movie, Marvel's worst and it had nothing to do with feminism.

He's one of us!

@SpukiKitty I wouldn't say it's near the level of Vogon Poetry. The lyrics do scan and they fit the meter of the original song. It's a parody of "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage the Elephant.

The first two verses are fine. It's the third verse I take issue with. No trans person says "Did you just assume my gender." That, along with complex genders such as "bigendered girl with manly tendencies," is a strawman that transphobes invented. Nobody's going to call the cops on you if you accidentally misgender them.

SJWs are not fundies. "Fundie" means specifically a religious fundamentalist. Those kinds of people are typically anything but SJWs.

Then why do we have so many SJW quotes in the racist say the darnest things, particularly in reference to white people? Why do we so many incel quotes? Inceldom is not a religion.

And most importantly why is Chris Ray Gun himself quoted here? He's not even religious!

Racist quotes are in RSTDT, and incel quotes are usually in SSTDT...which aren't really about "fundies" (at least by my definition), they're about racism and sexism.

And most importantly why is Chris Ray Gun himself quoted here. He's not even religious!

I kinda agree with you on that one, the quote isn't really "fundie" in itself. Maybe it would have better classified under SSTDT for the bit about the trans person.

@Denizen

Truth be told I did find the strawtransperson in the song an offensive trope that in itself is very mcuh a rightist talking point(not saying the author is by any stretch just that the point he tries to make is). Whether he does it out of ignorance or out of actual bigotry, he is reducing transfolks in his song to absurd and makes us out to be some sort of petty, vindictive creatures. That's a nasty treatment, isn't it?

4/11/2019 7:33:26 PM

@KingofRye

The Fundies mentioned on this site don't need to be religious. There was (is?) A mention about it on the FAQ for the site, but can't find it on my phone.

Anyone with a particularly goofy/loony/darndest belief/quote can be mentioned. It can cover people making purely political comments (like a comment on welfare) to stuff atheists mention, to stupid things like women don't get pregnant by "real" rape. Doesn't have to be religious exclusively.

As for the comment, hate the original song, but as a parody, I mean, the things mentioned are stuff people hear about, even if exaggerated. People having fallout from social media comments, people protesting what people say, people complaining about misgendering folks.
He may have it as extreme examples, but yeah. Most parodies do. As for his beliefs... He's certainly not religious. My only exposure to him was him joining Hugo and Jake (formerly "The Bible Reloaded") ripping a few Chick tracts. But they are pretty inclusive and host all sorts of folk, from the Amazing Atheist, to Logicked, to Sargon of Akkad, to Creationist Cat. They host all sorts, but usually not the religious right sorts.

@Denizen

Assuming you're absolutely correct, then it's an unfortunate consequence of parody, that is being taken seriously for it. Get used to it, it happens quite a lot, and the ones who take you absolutely seriously usually are among the fundies, whether religious or anti-religious, right or left. But any way you cut it, this doesn't really sound good. Taken all by itself, yes it makes Chris look like a jerk who really genuinely believes that "Social Justice Warriors" all overreacting is why people lose their jobs over Twitter posts. The only example I can think of off hand of someone losing their job over any social media post was Catherine Deveny saying on Twitter that she hopes Bindi Irwin gets laid. In 2010.

Lame. A lot of the complaints here, particularly the references to trans people are just petty. I could do better than this without the exaggeration and strawmen.

Somewhere in my room I've got my own parody of Inkubus Sukkubus's Church of Madness. I call it House of Madness and it takes aim at the Tory government.

Ever since I heard Sargon of Egad say it, one alt-reich vomiting-point has mystified me. What is their psychosexual fixation on hair dye, highlights and weaves? All the little seig heiling fucks beat their meat over trying to heap the most notice over the idea that somewhere out there someone has applied a color to their keratin strands. As though no vain as fuck hypermasculinist creeper ever dyed away the gray (real men, like my grandfather, accepted when they lost hair color). Old women time-lost from the fifties have blue rinse sometimes. We all remember the wild locks of the delightful Betty Slocum (Mrs). If hair color offends you, all you Hitler humpers and fellow good people on both sides of the one side that gives a fuck, then lobby to make unnatural hair dye illegal. Punishable by death if it bothers you so fucking much. Put up or shut up and go the fuck away.

Gee, I wonder why the little contrarian squit daren't say anything against Donald Fart...?!

If the right-wing author, commentator & blogger PJ O'Rourke did more than merely say in 2016 that Hillary Clinton was the lesser of two evils, but vote for her later that year: Unironically...!

He alone proves that nobody else has the right to use the phrase 'Ironically' as an excuse.

Least of all you, little hypocrite.

EEVBlog's Dave 'Mad Aussie Sparky' Jones says you:

And if Linus Sebastian can form Linus Media Group because of the fact his channel is amongst the top tech review ones on YouTube: with companies all but fighting over each other to not only feature in but sponsor videos produced by such, what's your excuse for not being a professional like them...?!

Essentially begging for money. (*Sniff-Sniff*) What's that I smell? Ah yes, that's right: the stink of those economically nonviable.

Exactly like VenomfangX & Mack Major (a.k.a. 'Peterbilt Minor').

Rationalwiki also refuses to criticize SJWs and thinks Black Lives Matter has a point. They are biased as all get out. Of course, they'll be difficult on someone who does mock SJWs.

I love their mockery of theists arguments, but they should leave their political views for the talk section.

Since social justice inevitably destroys everything it touches and turns on itself after it's been catered to, enjoy the site while it lasts. I wonder how long that will be.
