Quote# 142796

If you are an atheist, when you die, what would make you think that you would end up in heaven? That is ludicrous. Would you want to suddenly spend years with someone whom for most of your life you have never talked to, ignored, and even denied their existence? Well, as an atheist, that is how you have been acting towards God, so when you die, you will realize how dreadful that you have acted towards the all loving and caring God.

At the time of death you will of course believe in God, and at the same time feel such a dreadful shame that you will not want to face Him. It is you who will actually banish yourself from His presence. Since God dwells in Heaven, you will choose the opposing dwelling place, which is Hell. Of course God will sentence you to that place, but it will be what you have sought all your life, to be out of God’s presence, so it will be only natural for you to want to continue in that manner despite the dire circumstances.

Of course most atheists, though they want to pretend that they are just as moral and upstanding as any Christian, in most instances have some underlying depravity that does not jive with recognizing that there is a Supreme Being that has set in place certain laws which all men are bound to follow, so there will of course be the other physical punishments that will be part of the Hell that you as an atheist will have chosen.

Of course God gave you a free will, and also an inherent ability to know that there must be a God from the beauty and order observed in nature and the universe. Using Evolution as a crux for trying to deny a Creator is not ever able to be totally convincing for anyone. But as long as you still have life, you are free to use that free will to change the road that you are following on your way to Hell. Hopefully you will at some point make that necessary change before it is over. The choice though is entirely yours.

Yes, "heaven" is indeed a ludicrous notion, and so is "hell". What an embarrassment you are to the university for this nonsensical post. The ones who die in fear and trembling are the Christians, all of them hoping that "god" grades on the curve.

One, if I'm an atheist, I don't believe in heaven, so certainly don't believe I'm going there. Simple logic, I suggest you use it.

Two, your assertion that atheists all have some underlying depravity is a pointless argument, according to your own Bible:
KJV, Romasns 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

That's right, you too are a depraved sinner, and as imperfect as the rest of us . . . no matter of who you worship. You don't cease to be a sinner because you are Christian, you are merely a Christian sinner.

If you are an atheist, when you die, what would make you think that you would end up in heaven?

What makes you think an atheist believes in Heaven?

Also, at your time of death, what makes you think your god is the real one?

Uh I'm pretty sure you won't find an Atheist that believes in Heaven.

Thanks for the ever enticing Turn or Burn offer but I'll have to pass, this cosmic horror you seem to worship? Yeah being in its presence apprantly seems like some sort of mindwiping eternal servitude, so fuck him and fuck you too, hearty. See, there's a fun bit, I'm sure you'll enjoy: Precisely because I've no underlying crap and consider myself a person of certain moral spine, I'd much rather burn than serve this vile thing you worship.

I'm pretty sure nothing will happen to me after I die since I won't be around. Also I won't have a body, so no nervous system to feel shame, fear, pain, etc.

Also God is more than capable of communicating with me or arranging things to make be believe in him. The fact I don't see evidence for him doing so is why I'm an atheist in the first place.

I think atheists don't believe in heaven or hell. And since they don't believe in God, they don't think your life is judged.

Atheists don't need God to do what is right.

This is ridiculously incoherent.

Presumes atheists believe in Heaven but not God. Presumes atheists are aware of their insulting a being which they don't believe in. Goes on with an argument which can't make up its mind about what atheists do or don't believe. Displays that the writer can't even get into the headspace of the straw atheist he created, unless the headspace itself that of a deranged idiot, in which case how would said straw atheist even understand the argument?

It's kind of amusing in its fractal fail.

Nah, I don't believe in heaven or hell for that matter.
However, should I be wrong, I would expect that my trying to live as a decent person will get me some credit. After all, Jesus considered the good Samaritan a good candidate for salvation over a bunch of believers who could not be arsed to act decently towards others.

You believe in "Atheists KNOW the Bible is true and the Bible's God is the only real one! They just DENY it!", Tom? What the heck?

Happy Atheist

Mr Heck is a follower of the 'you know deep down that God is real' school of thinking, either because he cannot fathom anyone believing differently to him or to reinforce his own struggling faith against internal doubts.

So, no. I do not know that God is real. I do not believe that he is real. I see him as just as feasible as any other god, that is to say: not feasible.

I accept I may be wrong, but I do not believe I am.

Not only I do not believe in your god, I am incapable of believing in your god, as I find the idea of any god quite literally unbelievable. Until I see some solid evidence to support a god's existence, I will remain unconvinced. Not out of belligerence, not out of stubbornness, but out of a literal inability to believe in something without supporting evidence.

Of course, Mr Heck could not accept that. If what I said was true, after all, it would mean that his god condemned people to Hell for something entirely out of their control. No, I must be lying, or his world no longer makes sense.

Lowest bar ever.
Even other Christians know that.

Evolution is the biggest boogeyman of the fundies. They put so much effort into proving it wrong, and linking it’s ‘defeat’ with proving atheism wrong.

Thing is, the theory of evolution had no affect in my losing religion in my early twenties. It’s simply a lack of any evidence.
Even if the theory is somehow disproved, it will not be because a monkey god decided itself into existence.

" the all loving and caring God."

The all-loving God?
All three of my children spent time ignoring me, angry at me, snubbing me. I still love them. If I were to choose their life for them, I'd try to make them happy.
And I am only capable of miserable, limited, human love.

If your god is ALL loving, then how could such a being possibly put ANY child of his in eternal torment? Words, seriously, do you even use them?

"If you are an atheist, when you die, what would make you think that you would end up in heaven?"

Evidence. Any at all. Which you and your group have consistently failed to provide.

"That is ludicrous."

Yes, that is a pretty good description of your bit of prattle here.

"the all loving and caring God"

Your god is an immoral monster. He can go fuck Himself.

Let us suppose there is a heaven a eternal paradise. If God is just he will judge on how one lived. Not some archaic concept like sin.

Absolutely nothing, because I don't believe in Heaven or any kind of afterlife.

You must have your head in the sand when it comes to most Christians. I live in a heavily Christian part of the country and there are just as many, if not more, social ills here than anywhere else. But people here just try harder to keep them hidden.

I had a mental picture of someone standing at the pharmacy counter saying, "Look, just give me my prescription, and I'll pay for it and go. I don't need a sermon right now."
