Quote# 142382

Realizing that people are sinful by nature would cause us to place Bible-reading and prayer back into the public-school system. Is it any wonder why so many children are growing up to be heathen citizens? I mean...is a little decent Bible and prayer time going to hurt the kids in school? No, it would be great for them! The kids are being brain-washed with evolution, why is the story of creation banned? Is not evolution the religious belief of atheists? By the way, atheism IS a religion (it is a belief is it not?). So who's fooling who? Everyone has beliefs, and those beliefs affect their frame-of-mind to make decisions.

So when you think of it, there is no such thing as separation of religion and state. People think the terms "church" and "religion" are synonymous, they aren't. There are MANY religions today that have no church, no building, no organized meeting place (the New Age religion is a good example). Ironically, atheists meet in their various non-profit organizations but are not considered a church because they claim not to be religious. Here's THE TRUTH friend, atheists are VERY RELIGIOUS (that is--they have very strong beliefs). This great misnomer has given the atheists and other heathen organizations an unfair advantage over churches.

Thinking Allowed

Hey Dave, bible study and prayer has never left public schools. What has happened that (according to The Constitution) school sanctioned religious studies and prayers is illegal. Care to try again to convince the real world about things you choose to ignore.

But David, what if they want to use the RSV or NIV in the Bible-reading class? What if it's a Presbyterian, Catholic or Mormon that's leading the class?

atheists are VERY RELIGIOUS

Could you please contact the IRS and convince them of this? We could sure use the tax exemption.

" I mean...is a little decent Bible and prayer time going to hurt the kids in school? No, it would be great for them!"

I always find this disengenuous. The very first lawsuit over church-state separation was not brought by atheists. It eas from Catholics.
They found that their kids were being led in Baptist prayers at school. They felt this was harmful. Wring juju. So they sued to get the prayer back into the home where they could control it.

If you add mandatory prayers, you're gonna see all kinds of factions trying to control which prayers. Which bible. Which gods.

Fuck that.

David, you've brainwashed yourself so much that you wouldn't know the truth if you saw it.
"...is a little decent Bible and prayer time going to hurt the kids in school?"

Yes, David, yes it will. Church is for teaching people about myths. School is where they need to learn facts. We do not need any more stupid individuals in the nation. We have quite enough already.

I believe that would be covered by the First Amendment, as well as the Supreme Court case Engel v Vitale, 1962. The atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair, was not actually responsible for that outcome, did not even play a minor role, way back in the Sixties, yet they still blame her.

Probably reading the Bible would not harm the kids, but they should also read the Quran, Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads - just so they can make comparisons. Oh, you don't like that now? Well there should be a separation between church (or any religion) and state. Your Founding Fathers said so, and I'll take their words over some putrid kiddie fiddler.

It is a magnificent testimony to the evolution of humankind

A quote by a Conservative Christian. And that: on the Moon Landings by not only the one who was 2nd Man on the Moon, wore an Omega Speedmaster watch there, and met Optimus Prime: thus the Trifecta of Awesomeness, but who not only performed the first religious ceremony on another world: taking Communion not long after piloting the LEM 'Eagle' - using his quick decisions based on his scientific frame-of-mind - onto the Sea of Tranquility as he's a devout Christian, but previously gained his Ph.D at MIT.

So that's Dr. Buzz Aldrin to you, Mr. Ignorant.

So when you think of it, there is no such thing as separation of religion and state

I guess that's not the only reason why you aren't allowed back on the US mainland: you daren't.

There's light years of separation of your subjective 'morality' and US law backed up by it's Constitution: Just ask experienced lawyer Doug 'Piranha' Jones as to why he didn't lose a certain election in late 2017: and why his opponent - some... thing just as 'Saved' as you - did, David J. Pedo.

A little "decent" Bible and prayer time is going to bore the kids in school.

Which story of creation? Genesis 1 and 2 contradict each other...
Oh, and all other religions have their own creation story; why should your one take precedence?

No, evolution is proper, actual science.
Being taught actual science is not being brainwashed.
Having a religion pushed down your throat against your will, THAT is brainwashing.

Atheism is NOT a religion, it's a lack of belief in gods.

"their various non-profit organizations"? All non-profit organizations are atheist?
Religious charity organizations are only in it to make money?

"Realizing that people are sinful by nature would cause us to place Bible-reading and prayer back into the public-school system. "

Then realizing Protestantism is a false religion, we will place the real catholic bible and real catholic prayers back into the public school system. Then there would be no more DJS-like child molesting.

Doubting Thomas

Realizing that people are sinful by nature would cause us to place Bible-reading and prayer back into the public-school system.

Realizing the purpose of the Establishment Clause is why we don't.

Is it any wonder why so many children are growing up to be heathen citizens?

Often it's because they're forced to pray and go to church against their will.

I mean...is a little decent Bible and prayer time going to hurt the kids in school? No, it would be great for them!

OK, so, you're OK with them reciting the Hail Mary and other Catholic prayers? What about bowing toward Mecca? If not, then you understand why we don't want our kids being forced to pray your prayers.

why is the story of creation banned?[quote]

Because it's thinly-veiled religious nonsense under the guise of "science." Plus, it's patently false.

[quote]Is not evolution the religious belief of atheists?

No, it is not. You don't have to accept evolution in order to be an atheist.

So when you think of it, there is no such thing as separation of religion and state.

Tell that to Thomas Jefferson. You can't have freedom OF religion without having freedom FROM religion.

atheists are VERY RELIGIOUS (that is--they have very strong beliefs).

Having strong beliefs doesn't make something a religion. I believe very strongly that Donald Trump is a narcissistic, racist, sexist idiot who's totally unqualified to be president, but I'm not making a religion out of it.

Unusually dumb, even for old Dave.

If you bring back religion in schools, I vote for worshipping Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction. Put some fear into the little brats.

Damn it, not this argument again! Don't know how many times I've said it, but MY HIGH SCHOOL HAD BORROWABLE BIBLES IN THE LIBRARY
