Quote# 141155

They installed one of those giant plasma TV screens in the waiting room of the doctor's office a few months ago. Recently I complained because they were showing famous celebrity murders. I told the receptionist that I was offended by what they were showing on TV. The last thing a person in agonizing pain wants to see is blood-stained walls and hear people screaming on 911 calls. It was really sick. What is wrong with people these days that they enjoy watching garbage like that? People are so far from God. It's bad enough that the daily news is filled with so much tragic news. No wonder violence is increasing in America. Christians ought not watch violent shows on television.

Anyway, the receptionist changed the station to the Food Network. Rachael Ray came on promoting “Sin City” Las Vegas, showing a bunch of whores doing gymnastics with their underwear exposed, and boasting of all the sinful glamour of “Sin City.” I was so disgusted by their glorification of sin. You can't even watch a cooking program anymore without the Devil putting a bunch of filth and temptation in your face. It makes me angry as a Christian. I got up and walked to the other side of the waiting room. Rachael Ray is living for the Devil, working for a heathen company, and is in trouble with God for making light of wickedness. Las Vegas is a disgrace to America. Every website that promotes “Sin City” Las Vegas promotes immoral topless dancing, strip clubs, pornography, prostitutes and fornication. Las Vegas is of the Devil.

I pray for God to curse America, because we deserve nothing less. Why should God bless a nation that commits so much sin, openly, with no remorse nor shame?

You must get sick of saying that so often. What doesn't offend you? Crappy steel guitar videos on YouTube?

What if they were showing some Christian nonsense and somebody protested? What would you have thought about that?

I have one button that turns off the tv, one button that mutes it, and two eyelids that close. If you don't have control of the tv, you still should be able to close the eyes, or turn your back, or read something instead of watching.

Tell me, did you wait until the "bunch of whores doing gymnastics with their underwear exposed" were finished before you complained?

At least most of those times my brother was in there, the waiting area was nearly empty. Heck, the television in one was even low enough to push the on-set buttons (since they didn't leave the remote) so I could change it!

Of course, those were the exceptions, but for the most part, those that I couldn't change often had cartoons on.

Maybe the doctor's office could show "Djesus Uncrossed" when Davey visits.

In Frank Miller's 'Sin City' stories and the film based on them there actually are a few characters a bit like Dave, or sharing some of his vices.

Poor Davie. This life must be hell.

As for God cursing America? If God exists and is behind Donald Trump then he did curse us.

Unless you (*snerk!*) voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, you already have that curse.

Fortunately, since nary 24 hours ago (GMT) Donald Fart is essentially a lame duck president now he's been cursed with a Democrat-controlled HoR, so it all balances out. [/Doug Piranha-levels of sarcasm]

...oh, and the 1st Amendment Dave-o; it's in something you clearly have no concept of: the US Constitution. Apart from that being the only thing that your religion relies upon for it's very existence, why do you hate Freedom, you Commie?!

I could understand being uncomfortable or even offfensed by being forced to hear 911 recordings of people as they’re being murdered.

However This dude sure lost me at sin city whores or whatever bullshit he was on about

Which is exactly what you could have done when you first walked into the waiting room, which I do whenever I walk into a room with a tv. I always bring a book when I go anywhere I'm likely to be waiting; you could bring your Queen James Bible. Over the past 60+ years, I've learned to tune out external noise, whether from a radio, television, or people talking. If that's difficult for you, bring earbuds to listen to glorious Christian music, or just earplugs to block out the noise. Politely tell the receptionist that you'll have them in, so they'll have to tap your shoulder when it's your turn. I'm sure they'd consider that less of a problem than your complaining about what's on the tv.

Of course, I've always considered you one of those people who goes through life looking for ways to be offended. When offered an opportunity to avoid it, they essentially respond, "I'd rather have my grievance." You're old enough to know that not everyone you meet will agree with you on everything. Since you haven't learned to ignore things that annoy you, I predict that you're going to live in a state of frustration for the rest of your life.

While I was in the hospital with 32% of my skin burned off all I watched was law and order. Extreme pain, murder on the TV. Sounds good

Right! I agree totally.

In fact, there's one death row case that keeps being repeated over and over. It's about this guy in an occupied country who pisses off the local government as well as the occupation force. They all end up arresting, torturing, and killing the guy. The whole damned execution is told in minute detail, over and over and over. It's bloody, gruesome, and can give you nightmares. It's most definitely not suitable for children. They even describe how the guards want to break the guy's legs while he's hanging on the cross.

No Christian should ever see that awful episode. Never. It's really sick. What is wrong with people these days that they enjoy watching garbage like that? People are so far from God.

It must really suck to find evil in everything people do. If you think the entire world is totally evil, is it really the world's fault, or is it just you?

By the way, I enjoy watching shows like "Forensic Files." I used to work in law enforcement, and I've always found it fascinating how people who commit crimes get caught.

It's because they either enjoy being offended, or they want the entire world to change to their whims. Just avoiding what they're offended over is not an option with these people.

What I want to know is, is there even any channel they could have turned the TV to where he wouldn't have eventually found something to be offended by? Even if it was CBN or whatever, one of those Christian channels, he'd probably be quick to find outrage at something or other.

11/8/2018 7:13:32 AM

" It was really sick. What is wrong with people these days that they enjoy watching garbage like that? People are so far from God. "

They should show bears eating children because they dissed gods PR agent.
Also why were you in a doctors office? I thought god would cure you, seeing how you're the only Christian on the island.

The Kiddydiddler getting offended at others minding their own business. Must be Thursday...

Where they actually showing whores? Because that is women/men getting paid to have sex.
I bet it was their gymnastic costumes that were exposed, not their underwear.

You choose to be tempted, Kiddydiddler. Just look away, dearie.

"What is wrong with people these days that they enjoy watching garbage like that?"

Don't most of those shows that make it to a TV episode end up with the miscreant being caught and punished? That's the pay-off. Horrible things happen, but the police were victorious and the evil doer went to prison.
It's a very Christain show, what with no one ever shown getting away with it, or anyone proving that the crime was actually justified, or activist judges throwing out prosecution because they didn't read him his rights, or whatever.

You should have watched the whole show, Dave, rather thhan pussy-out at the first offense.

Wow! You can't please this guy! The receptionist has the TV changed from violent, disturbing crime stuff (I actually kinda agree with DJS on this one) to something that'll please everyone and is nonviolent like a cooking show (like The Food Network)....but he still gets miffed cuz it's an outspoken "hot babe" in pants like Rachel Ray doing food stuff in Las Vegas!

WELL, THEN....

....VIVA LAS VEGAS!

@checkmate
You, my friend, are DIVINE!

LOL! Yeah; Imagine if that TV really was 2000 inches.
I love Weird Al Yankovic.
