It's hard to know what to trust about the third Reich these days...but having read a decent amount of Nazi literature myself I find the story of euthanizing mentally ill to be quite believable.
To be honest...my personal philosophical journey in the past few years has caused me to develop some scorn for the popular 'Ethics of pity'. Unless there is some good reason to take care of the weak, I am not sure why we should.

I can absolutely sympathize with your emotional reaction to this sort of thing. Yes, it seems unnecessarily brutal to simply eliminate a person because they are retarded. Letting them live does not seem like some unreasonable sacrifice. I was raised in a culture of pity and mercy just like you were...so I learned the same emotional response like you did.

At the same time...in a very cold blooded way...i increasingly feel like a tolerance for parasitism is a fundamental objective weakness of my culture...and it can be attacked and destroyed with that weakness.
