First of; no it bloody well doesn't! Life BEGINS around then.
I've had a lot of interesting, fun, pleasant experiences after I turned 30, and I look forward to new experiences after I turn 50 in a year. Most real adults that I know say they would never-ever-in-a-million-years go back to their teenage years, or their twenties. OK, maybe to 25 but that's it; life before then was just horrible.
Sure, you have to have a job to make a living, but you can have a moderately mundane job, just go there, do the work with little or no brain-involvement, and then leave for your real life. You don't have to have children if yo don't want to. As a man, you can have a vasectomy and be fairly sure that no kiddies will emerge. If you change your mind, a vasectomy can be reversible.
In what way are the "roastie" wives ungrateful? For what? Are you grateful to them?
My life is better now than it has ever been. In a longstanding relationship (30 years and counting), well-paid job, large house with a red BMW parked outside, huge garden, a spring trip to Spain or Greece and a Christmas-market trip to Germany each year. Right now, I'm on the first days of my five-week paid vacation with nothing planned but relaxation. I'm grown and I don't envy the young.
