Quote# 138760

Yeah but in the end every knee will bend and every head will bow for the Lord Jesus Christ. And then the Book of life will be opened and whoever’s name was written in it will have life. And whoever’s name was not written in the book will be judged. Just think of the worst day you ever had and multiply that by the largest number you can think of. It will be the worst moment in all of your existence, to know you will be separated for all eternity from Jesus. Please give yourself some time to study the bible and ask the hard questions and get the answers. God bless you all.

I don't think so, chump. Both you & your jeebus can kiss my ass.

I am quite familiar with the bible, which is precisely why I think it's nothing but utter bullshit. The bible is fit for nothing save being used as skeet, rolling papers or bird cage liner.

That's nice, dear, but I don't have time to listen to any more of your dreams today.

Am I the only one who always thinks of the scene with Loki and the old German man in Avengers when the fundies talk like that?

every knee will bend

'Every'?! Well, as the entry of the Canadian team in the stadium at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics proves...:

...why does your 'Lord' tarry so?! [/whywontgodhealamputees.com]

"Yeah but in the end every knee will bend and every head will bow for the Lord Jesus Christ."

Then it will be done by force, at the hands of an immoral dictator. Anyone who demands worship is unworthy of receiving it, be it president, king, or god.

"Please give yourself some time to study the bible and ask the hard questions and get the answers."

I studied. That's when the questions came. There were no answers. Now I don't believe it.

Pardon me, but what is the down side of this?

K

I read the bible, back when I believed it.
I had questions.
I got platitudes.
I got blamed for having the temerity to even ask such questions.
I got IOUs.

I got out of that Church, looking for one with actual answers.
I ended up an atheist.

Isn't it weird that people who have clearly NOT "studied" the Bible in any normal sense of the term, are so eager that others should do so. It should indeed be studied, as the most significant piece of literature in the history of Western culture bar none. You may not regard it as historically reliable, which for the most part it isn't. You may not regard it as morally or spiritually edifying, but the question then is why so many millions have done and continue to do so. It's also important to understand why ignoramuses like Jules here think it can be taken literally, why the threat of hell and the promise of heaven continue to mesmerise and distract so many from the urgency of living worthwhile lives here and now.
