Quote# 137796

Christianity makes the most sense because and has the most immediate benefits to a person's life when you start doing good things instead of bad things good things start happening in your life if you have legal problems they go away if you owe people money you get them paid off you find a better job you get a nicer house you get a nicer car instead of a nasty old junker your insurance rates go down your credit score goes up the police are looking for you this is a good reason to be Christian! Yes it's nice to believe that when your dead you'll wake up Sunday at the resurrection but it's much better to have something immediately here now and today to look at it and say hey my program works better than yours.

Two points, (1) what you're pushing is what's know as an argument from consequences and is a logical fallacy. The consequences, good or bad, have no effect upon whether or not something is true; (2) we clearly have very different opinions about the morality of the actions of many Christians.

(3) Punctuation is a thing. Learn it.

You've been listening to those prosperity preachers, haven't you. Nope, Jesus is not going to pay your debts, upgrade your car, or keep you out of jail. Only a fool would believe tha...OK, I see where the problem is...

My credit score has been going up since I left Christianity though.

You know, most people consider the police looking for them a bad thing.

Perhaps the OP doesn't speak English as a first language?

You misspelled "being wealthy."

Yeah, no Christian faith has had to consolidate congregations and close churches because funds are lacking, no financial officer has ever embezzled a church's money.
None of the illegal immigrants in this country accept Jesus into their heart, and no religious authority has even been suspected of child abuse, because God makes sure the Faithful, and their kids, are safe, and that priests and pastors behave...

Christianity makes the most sense because and has the most immediate benefits to a person's life when you start doing good things instead of bad things

Being a decent human being gives immediate benefits as well. Best part of it all is I don't have to be a believer.

good things start happening in your life if you have legal problems they go away

Where do I sign up? Oh wait, with me being a decent human being I have morals to keep me from having legal problems.

if you owe people money you get them paid off

So do decent human beings.

you find a better job you get a nicer house you get a nicer car instead of a nasty old junker

*I have a friend who has been working for the same company for 30 years as a welder. Everything he owns he has paid for or he has nice income where he can afford it. You know what else he is...an atheist. He's been one for over 40 years (since being a teenager). That blows your point out of the water.

Oh, and you know what else he is? A decent human being.

your insurance rates go down your credit score goes up

see previous response*

the police are looking for you this is a good reason to be Christian!

It's funny since most of the people in prison are Christian.

Yes it's nice to believe that when your dead you'll wake up Sunday at the resurrection

As opposed a Tuesday or early Friday morning?

but it's much better to have something immediately here now and today to look at it and say hey my program works better than yours.

No...not really. You have yet to provide me with anything that says you are better than I am.

You're mixing it up, my dude. Karma is a Hindu concept. Repent now and ask forgiveness from Vishnu.

KingOfRhye

I think a LOT of Christians would say the exact opposite of that last sentence.

Titania, The Original

As an athiest, I beg to differ. My insurance just decreased by about $400. That's just one thing in a string of recent good events I am currently experiecing.

Doubting Thomas

Why is it that I know Christians who have legal problems, owe people money, and drive crappy cars?

4/16/2018 9:38:17 AM

Szena

@ Doubting Thomas - clearly they're not "True Christians."
