[Emphasis added to give you an idea what Vox considers wacky social justice nonsense]
This isn't Jon's fight. It certainly isn't the comics journalists' fight; they are on the other side. This is a fight for everyone, of the Left and of the Right, who doesn't want to be totally controlled by the social justice warriors. This is for everyone who wants to be able to write what he wants to write, to draw what he wants to draw, and to tell the stories that he wants to tell without facing immediate disemployment and permanent blackballing from the industry.
This is the GamerGate situation on steroids. It is as if all the game developers teamed up with the game journos against the gamers rather than quietly siding with the gamers.
Everyone to the left of me desperately wants to believe that a line will somehow be drawn between them and the evil crimethinkers of the extreme right. But Chuck Dixon, Will Caligan, and Jon Malin all demonstrate that the line will always and continuously move leftward until every individual and organization in the comics industry are forced to converge to the highest abstract standard of social and distributive justice in the utmost degree.
That is the goal. Since 1861, that has always been the goal.

Just to make sure, did anything happen in Europe in 1861, that might cohere to Beale’s usual concerns?
Otherwise...well, there is the question of whether he’s talking about the quest to maintain slavery, or the quest to maintain states’ rights. (Ignore for now that they were the same at that time.) Although I don’t suppose any Dark Enlightenment types have explicitly defended some sort of slavery...?
To be fair to VD, he's stated that white Americans should have just picked their own cotton, so he hasn't gone full Hunter Wallace. He does think Lincoln was a horrible tyrant for waging the Civil War, though, so hell if I know what he's on about.
Vox asking for more money for his comic book, I suppose.
He's a publisher, he has his own press (Castalia House). He could publish his shopping list if he wanted to. So why doesn't he just draw his own comic and put it out there, instead of depending on handouts?
Vox may not like blacks, but he has a kindred spirit in Mack Major.
VD has yet to hear about "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus".
Because if he got a load of the scene where two Confederate redneck KKK-clad retards were having their white pointy-hatted jimmies burned by a literal 'Grammar Nazi', his head would go all 'splody.
With what they've done with id Tech 6, Bethesda Softworks have become Social Justice Warlords , Theo.
@ Moose....Did you ever come across the conversation in the first Wolfenstein when you are sneaking about(my hubby was playing it so I dont remember exactly where but me thinks a castle), where as you hear two nazis talking and the one actually corrects and berates the other for his grammar?! That game had a literal "Grammar Nazi" Nazi XD XD
As for the main post....can some one fill me on what the scratch Pox is going on about now? I am so lost.
I CAN write what I want, draw what I want (if I could draw, that is) and tell whatever stories I want, because I'm not a hateful bigoted fascist who wants to deprive EVERYONE ELSE of the rights I want to use.
The GamerGate? Oh, the widdle boyos who couldn't handle that women like gaming too, and very much like to play with characters that did not come from a teenage-boy's porno-fantasy?
Everyone to the left of fascists? The overwhelming majority of the population, that is.
A line WAS drawn, when people stated after WWII, "NEVER AGAIN!". Not that the line hasn't been crossed from time to time, but it's still there.
Yes, individuals and organizations in the comics industry have to relate to the majority or become obsolete. That's capitalism for ya, VD.
VD reveals himself to be arrogant, ignorant, bigoted. stupid and beneath contempt. Nothing new here, then.
@Japanda
While the vids on YouTube I've seen of "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus" have been of fairly quick playthroughs; not exactly 'Quake Done Quick'-type speedruns, but not the exploration-fests of "DOOM IV", I've yet to see that particular scene. But sounds fun.
Perhaps some of the vids' uploaders had edited out certain scenes, but there y'go. But not that final scene, though! (Some criticised that as not exactly having the satisfying destruction-fests of previous "Wofenstein" games, but this one has more of a 'cinematic' feel, so what happens to the chief Nazi in this game is just as good as the final 'Glory Kill' of the Spider Mastermind in "DOOM IV").
I don't want to be controlled by the social justice warriors either. Thing is, you and I have very different visions on what that means, Pox. For you, it means replacing partial control by one group of perpetually aggrieved toddlers with total control by another group of perpetually aggrieved toddlers. For me, it means not being encumbered by perpetually aggrieved toddlers of any political background.
You complain about how the line in the sand with social liberals and progressives gets shifted further and further to the left with each day. To the point that you're referring to specific subgroups of the left (the people commonly termed social justice warriors before the far-right used it as another pejorative against the left in general), I can kind of see where you're getting this point from. But that largely isn't happening--there's been a pretty consistent "line in the sand" since about WWII with guaranteeing human rights to people. Contrariwise, I cannot say the same of you. You are moving your own line in the sand further and further to the right. Your reference to 1861 makes me think that in my long absence from here you've shifted to being a full-on slavery supporter, after all. And certainly economically, the "line in the sand" has been moving to the right for decades.
Somehow, I thought that was what the SJWs wanted, I don't take that term as an insult. So write what you want to write, draw what you want to draw - and people have the freedom of speech to tell you it's no good.
What happened in 1861? Somehow I think Burke and Wills' expedition did reach their goal, but it didn't go very well for them, afterwards. That was what you meant, right?
Gotta love how, in the middle of all this, he claims all gaming developers sided with GamerGate (despite nearly all the AAA developers making their games more inclusive since then, AFTER openly condemning GG). And he still acts as if it was because of "integrity in games journalism," and not a petty sexist scumbag trying to get revenge on a woman for not being his property.
Confused?
