Quote# 134010

Americans have been Monsanto guinea pigs for 20+ years. Politicians and the media are complicit with these crimes against humanity.

Yet here we are, the best-nourished people in the history of life on earth. Get a grip.

Best nourished, in quantity, yes, but quality may leave something to be desired.

Abundance of pesticides and chemical stuff in our food does not make for good health.
So, no, it is not a crime against humanity, as in, there is no concerted plan for wiping out a part of humanity, but there is complacency and greed to the utmost level in Monsanto and others. We are paying the price with cancers, and other illnesses, as well as extinction of animal species (bees, other insects...).
Let's not absolve our great industrial group of anything.

I disagree. There were more chemicals and pesticides in our food during the Cold war than there are now thanks to the establishment of regulating bodies such as the FDA. If there are synthtic materials in food now its because its better quality-wise than the organic equivalent. You using Monsanto as an example of those things is also malinformed. Genetically modifying a plant to let it create toxins that make it resistant to insect plagues has shown to have a way less averse effect on surrounding insects than if the same organic pesticide would be sprayed on the very same plants.

The best part is that I've refused to listen to Monsanto and the like but that I've found my information by well-informed people.

Our food is better now than it was during the cold war. That doesn't mean it's better now than it was during the stone age.
