Text Formatting Help

Quote# 133966

FSTDT currently uses BBCode-like tags rather than plain HTML. BBCode looks a lot like regular HTML, but tags are wrapped in [regular brackets] instead of <angle brackets> (i.e. less than & greater than signs).

Here are the most important tags that are supported. You can use the comments on this post as a sandbox to test and play around with the formatting tags. Also feel free to post any questions you have!

Bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough
[b]bold[/b]
[i]italics[/i]
[u]underlinep[/u]
[s]strikethrough[/s]

Plain links

Links with custom text
[url=http://www.fstdt.net/mookitty.jpg]Shy's Cat[/url]

Images

Superscript and subscript
[sup]superscript[/sup]
[sub]subscript[/sub]

Quotes
[quote]quoted text[/quote]

Stuff for programmers and other geeks
Code tag for [code]Inline.code('snippets')[/code]
Kbd tag for inline [kbd]sample input[/kbd]
Samp tag for inline [samp]sample output[/samp]
[pre]pre-formatted text[/pre]

There are a few other tags in addition to these, but I think they should be used in extreme moderation. If you need to use them, you should be able to figure them out on your own now that you know the basics.

I am testing some tags to make sure they work correctly.

defmodule LadyCheckmateBot do

def squawk(n) do
unless n = 0 do
IO.puts("alt-left!!!1")
squawk(n-1)
end
end

end

LadyCheckmateBot.squawk(65536)

And they do.

I didn't know about this or this.

Does this work? (yep)

Well this is just plain considerate.

@Passerby: And so long overdue that I am inconsiderate for taking so long to do this. Sorry, guys!

Also, you can nest quote tags — that is, you can insert quote tags inside quote tags.

Yeah, that looks kinda weird...lol

Edit by shy: I "fixed" them. It still looks really weird and kinda tripppy, though. Feel free to delete this and revert them if you want to for whatever reason.

@ KingOfRhye

You can stack them too

2=(√2)(√2)(√2)(√2)...

Thanks for this. I couldn't figure it out myself.
