Yay yay yay! Thousand thumbs up for mentioning the scientific method, testability and observation! Industrial and medical science runs on the scientific method and has produced fantastic results.

When it comes to evolution, were supposed to ignore the scientific method and just pretend it is science because that's what we're told. The examples you mention, and other fossils, are not propose to be actual common ancestors, but are presented as derivatives of an unknown shared common ancestor.

This is all based on assumptions. However, you have what is called the "species problem," nobody is in agreement on what to assume. What defines speciation is currently hotly debated amongst evolutionary scientists with no agreement. One can Google "species problem" for further information. Quite simply, no missing links, the theory is falsified, end of story. Believers can go on believing, but it ain't science.
