Quote# 127268

Over the weekend, the WannaCry ransomware attack targeted Microsoft Windows systems across the globe, even disrupting hospitals in Britain.

But Russia won’t have to worry about anything like that happening because the Orthodox Church’s Patriarch Kirill apparently visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs and sprayed holy water on the computers.

They can hack our political campaigns, but they think spraying water on computers is a smart move… #Logic

It won’t do any good, obviously, and I suspect the government let Kirill work his magic because he’s a powerful figure in the country. I think the government official standing in the middle of the room with the “you’ve got to be kidding me” look speaks for all of us.

Kirill has previous blamed the rise of ISIS on the “godless, secular” civilization in which we live. Also: Pride parades. He also thinks marriage equality is a “very dangerous sign of the apocalypse.”
And now he’s adding to his bullshit-filled toolbox with holy water. Because who needs a white hat when you have religious headgear at your disposal?

That holy water doesn't work. You need Dreams of Dumbass's magic olive oil.

"Kirill has previous blamed the rise of ISIS on the “godless, secular” civilization in which we live."

Because he doesn't understand how foreign affairs and foreign policies work. Nor what secularism is

ISIS is a secular organization?

Also doesn't he know holy water only works if the hackers are vampires.

DarkPhoenix

So... does that mean that computer viruses are created by Satan or something? Because I'm sure the assholes out there who create viruses for fun would enjoy the idea of being mistaken for the Lord of all Hells...

Mister Spak

"Orthodox Church’s Patriarch Kirill apparently visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs and sprayed holy water on the computers"

And then the virus stopped running. Along with all the other programs.

"Because he doesn't understand how foreign affairs and foreign policies work. Nor what secularism is "

Kirill has one minor point to make in that so far western secularists have done very little to actually combat or even speak truthfully about the jihadist threat.
Which is NOT a "perversion of Islam", it's directly derived from normative Islamic doctrine like offensive warfare against unbelievers. Faux secularists are more worried about "Islamophobia" than Muslims oppressing non-Muslims, especially gays.

Are there exceptions? Yes. Pat Condell. There are some people like him. Should be thankful for them.

But does he have any power to do anything? No. Due to the propaganda of "Islamophobia" someone like Pat Condell will either never be elected or he will be elected and will be constantly blocked from doing anything, even the sligthest reform to keep people safe (such as Trump was)

Ironically, it's usually the social conservatives, the Christian theocrats and sometimes outright fascists who speak truthfully about the dangers of Islam (NOT Islamism, Islam, "Islamism" doesn't exist because Islam is both religion and politics wrapped into one package).

I'm conservative myself, but not so much on social issues necessarily (would depend on the issue). However the way mainstream politics treats the subject of Islam has given me little choice but to at least mingle with the far right, even if I don't agree with everything they say.

Tough choice on who to support?

The camp that includes Christian theocrats (but at least they uphold property rights and tend to be more realistic about Islam, also their "theocracy" usually amounts to a few stupid laws rather than a complete subversion of the the system) or the secular left (which claims to be secular but has policies that enable the worst aspects of Islam to manifest and grow into a fifth column, all the under the guise of "religious tolerance". As if we're supposed to "tolerate" the destruction of our political systems and way of life as Muslims push for Sharia law and/or commit terrorist attacks.)

How the fuck is DAESH secular?

5/20/2017 11:10:22 AM

NonProphet

#2054378: Oh sure, because non-jihadist, progressive, peaceful Muslims don't exist, especially in large numbers; Christians haven't pushed things like "kill the gays" bills or denial of rights for atheists, non-whites, and LGBTs; and banning an entire religion based entirely on stereotypes (largely racial) couldn't possibly end poorly or violate the Constitution. Right?
