(Sounds like someone NeoMatrix would get along with...)
I think atheists need a state of their own, where anyone who is an atheist can become a citizen (similarly to Israel's Law of Return) while religious belief is treated as a mental illness and proselytizing is criminalized.
One solution would be to form an atheist paramilitary group and then attack either ISIS in Syria, or AQAP in Yemen, seizing enough of the terrorists' territory to form a state. It would be like Call of Duty, but for real. The international community wouldn't exactly intervene to stop us, since they oppose the terrorists too.

There are already way too many "Calls of Duty" going on in the world, groups trying to form their own enclaves. Why not try to live and let live in the existing societies? More and more people are becoming non-religious anyway, soon it will be the religious ones that might need a "safe-haven" of some sort.
If you try to take some-one else's territory by force, you'll be the terrorists.
Any time you find yourself comparing real military engagement to CoD, you're talking out of your ass. Also, your understanding of terrorists and territory held could use some work.
You might want to pay attention to your username and follow its advice.
Please, these idiots wouldn't make the bare minimum to enlist and would get laughed out of a recruiting office.
Put them in actual combat and they would be curled up in a corner, surrounded by a puddle of piss and shit, after 30 seconds.
It will be like Call of Duty, but for real
So, the two sides will be constantly picking up and dropping a bomb?
Sounds like a good idea on paper, but it would be stupid in practice.
An atheist state would be a great idea. However, going to war for it would be costly, impractical, and dangerous. It certainly wouldn't be "like call of duty."
"One solution would be to form an atheist paramilitary group and then attack either ISIS in Syria, or AQAP in Yemen,"
Shiite fundies couldn't stop ISIS, why do you think you could?
And then there's the problem of living on a sandpile. Are you aware of the problems of living in a country made of desert?
Why don't you move into Death Valley, you don't have to fight ISIS to take over.
You need to TakeYerMeds.
While sometimes I feel like it'd be best for the secularists to leave and let the fundies kill each other, there's no way in Hell that I will EVER follow somebody who wants to form a nation state in a DESERT NATION filled with religious conflict, and who thinks Call of Duty is in any way combat-accurate.
It would be like Call of Duty, but for real.
Simple-minded idiot.
Hey, guess what? If someone really shoots you and especially hits something vital, you could die...you know, like you do in a fucking video game, except for real.
It would be like Call of Duty, but for real.
Anyone who says this seriously is mentally ill.
The international community wouldn't exactly intervene to stop us, since they oppose the terrorists too.
You never spent even a quantum of attention on the Syrian civil war? You would be AMONG the many factions that would be counted (at least by some) as terrorists.

Bad idea.
while religious belief is treated as a mental illness and proselytizing is criminalized.
Crimilazing religion is not the solution.
Religious belief are indeed a mental illness, but so are political ideology and extremisms.
It depends on the degre of cognitivde dissonance plaguing the subject.
But this is not a simple matter.

SLow down kid. First, real fight is not the same as call of duty and other silly FPS. And the syrian matter is quite complex and convoluted.
.
Did anyone else get a flashback to The Children's Crusade while reading this?
The international community wouldn't exactly intervene to stop us, since they oppose the terrorists too.
You underestimate the control freaks' willingness to justify killing for oil. You are not them. You are the enemy too.
@Some Christian Anon
The idea, yes. The proposal, no. An atheist state would have to be made by peaceful means, or else it would be promptly crushed by the religious nations of the world.
I always imagined an atheist state a bit like Rapture from Bioshock, except not underwater and not Objectivist. It would have to be separate from other nations, and it would be built on scientific inquiry regardless of ethics. It would be ruled by scientists rather than politicians, with care and compassion for all its citizens. It would pioneer technology light-years ahead of the rest of the world too, without stupid things like Christian morals getting in the way.
@NeoMatrix:
it would be built on scientific inquiry regardless of ethics
What do you mean?
@Demon Duck of Doom
As I said, it wouldn't be objectivist, which would take the alt-right out of the picture.
@SomeApe
Ethics are detrimental to the scientific process and are based in Christian ideology, so they would be ignored.
@NeoMatrix
Ethics is a branch of philosophy dealing with individual actions. Not all ethics are derived from Christianity (Just ask the Jews. Or Zoroastrians. Or... well, the list goes on, including humanists).
Science divorced from ethics gives you things like Josef Mengele and Unit 731.

Scientists can be just as morally corrupt as politicians. The difference is they will probably be smarter at controlling your life. Don't assume that translates into benevolence.
And doing science and nation building - not the same thing. Knowing science doesn't suddenly make you a statesman.
Oh and being an atheist doesn't make you a scientist or "rationalist" or anything either. Stop trying to conflate the two. Atheists have proven that they can be just as moronic as everyone else, nothing wrong about being an atheist but also nothing special about being an atheist.
@Demon Duck of Doom
Technically speaking, no. Many of his, um, "experiments" did follow the scientific method, for example his twin experiments.
Also Unit 731 still stands. They studied the efects of biological weapons without those silly little things like "human rights" and "ethics" standing in their way. We all know how that turned out.
People like to diss bioethics but when you fumble aroung with living beings having a good sense of ethics is a must.
@Reptiloan: There's a reason I didn't dispute Unit 731 being listed.
Regarding ethics, I think there's a point where it stops mattering. If you had to kill a few people to stop climate change, would you?
@NeoManiac:
And of course, you see yourself as one of the Science Lords, not as Test Subject #32455...
@Demon Duck of Doom:
"When do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?" IS one of the basic dilemmas of ethics.
@NeoMatrix
...with care and compassion for all its citizens.
And you know what makes people HAVE care and compassion?
ETHICS!!!
eth·ics
'eTHiks/
noun
plural noun: ethics; noun: ethics
1. moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity.
(since you're apparently using the word to mean something else...)
