Dude, Franco was awesome. He physically removed commies, was one of our best allies in the Cold War, promoted traditional Catholic values, created an economic boom that made Spain the second fastest growing economy in the world in the 60's and 70's, and reinstituted the monarchy upon his death.

He was honestly Pinochet but better.

What the heck happened afterwards though? Post Franco Spain is a total mess.

Apparently they elected a socialist government in the 80's and then joined the EU. That would do it.
