The ankh is a symbol of a sandal strap. It just so happens that phonetically, the word "ankh" means life in the Kemetic language. Kind of like writing the word "before" as "B4", if such a concept was sacred to you.

Ummm, yes, I realise that the twitter thread is people taking the mick, but I'm not quoting them, nor are they the creators so far as I can tell. I submitted it as 'Anonymous' precisely because I do not know the source. This could still be a troll, the person who shared it on there says it's not, but I've been unable to track down the source to verify. I submitted it because I thought it was too funny to pass on.
There are many different interpretations of what the ankh really represents and why. Some are more likely than others, but ultimately we'll probably need a time machine to know for sure.
The cross is easy - it's how the Romans sometimes executed criminals.
