The $ is the satanic S with a double strikethrough it, interesting. (in australia we use it too, and i've never heard that explanation before.... very interesting....)

Heavens no!
[fakenews]
It's a sign for the Holy Trinity! The two vertical lines represent the Father and the Son, and the "S" is the Holy Spirit who wraps himself around them and makes the Trinity whole.

(Let them chew on that for a while.) ;-)
The United States of America was the first country to use their abbreviated name as a symbol for their currency. The symbol was created by superimposing a "U" over an "S." Eventually, it was modified to two vertical lines because it was too hard to draw in that form. It became a single line mainly because the two narrow lines were too easily damaged in soft metal typeface.
Anyone who doesn't just choose to believe what they want to believe could do this research. Then, there are some that just want to be babbling idiots.
@Psycho Tits: No, it's an L for Lucifer with a line. Just as Satanic.
The Euro, I don't know about one way or the other.
@breakerslion
Now, I has always heard it was the superimposition of PS, for peso. Or both could be right, the peso for single line and US for the double line.
It is a remainder that:
@Jesus, Matthew6:21,24
Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
@Beaker's Lion:
Wrong. It originated in Spanish Mexico as the symbol for Peso (as unit for gold weight, and it remains the symbols for all Pesos), presumably derived from the abbreviation Ps. It was only later adopted for the dollar for some reason.
@Jamaican Castle:
vil?
No idea about the Yen, though.
"Satan" only starts with an "S" in English and other languages that use the Latin alphabet. In the actual NT scripture, which was written in Greek, Satan would have started with sigma, which looks kind of like a backwards 3. In Hebrew, it would have been shin-tiet-nun. Shin is an "sh" (English doesn't have an "sh" letter) and looks kind of like a trident.
...so you'll be going the anti -Republic route and wanting Pounds Sterling - '£' - then? You know what that means:

Australia is still part of the Commonwealth, you know.
@Doubting Thomas
You beat me to it!
So I will add, why do all these televangelists ask for money so much? Do they worship the Almighty Dollar?
Confused?
