Technically, this person doesn't advocate violence - just ridicule. I'll give you harassment, though.
I'm pretty sure the reason Trump won, though, is that he won in enough key states that, despite losing the popular vote (in spite of his delusions otherwise), he got enough EC votes to win.
That being said, I'm of the opinion that we went too far in the other direction - we treated racism, xenophobia, and bigotry like it was too much of a valid opinion, and we didn't criticize it aggressively enough. Then it was allowed to foster. Some beliefs are inherently inferior to others and harmful to society and should not have been allowed to flourish so well.
Racism and xenophobia, when allowed to flourish, demeans society and allows for atrocities to be committed.
To clarify though, the government should not be involved in squashing these ideas. Rather, it should have been accomplished by responsible members of society. Society has a duty to itself, ultimately, and it failed.
