Female on male rape is largely a MRA nonsense talking point. Literally "what about teh menz?".

Most cases of female on male rape are actually consenual sex between an adult female and a male child. Those "Thirty five year old teacher has sex with twelve year old boy!" type stories that you see on the news.

Yes there are actual cases where an adult female has violently raped a male but they are very, very, very rare.

But generally when somebody brings it up they are just trying to muddy the waters.

What a lot of people don't seem to be aware of is that consent from a minor extends beyond sexual matters.

A prime example of this is contract law. A minor cannot independently sign a legally binding contract.

The reasons for this are obvious. Let's say a shrewd fifteen year old tricked a dull witted 9 year old into betting a million dollars that he wouldn't eat a stinkbug, then he got that in writing and had is notarized. That 15 year old could eat a stinkbug and the 9 year old would be legally indebted to him for the rest of his life EXCEPT, that a contract signed by a 9 year old cannot hold up in a court of law.

For similar reasons age of consent applies to sexual contact. Minors are easier to manipulate, coerce, threaten and fool into stuff like that. Their consent is not legally binding.

The strange thing is, the majority of people I've seen who want to talk about female-on-male rape and take it seriously are feminists, so dismissing it as an MRA talking point makes even less sense.

And if it IS an MRA talking point, then it's one of the things that most* feminists and most* MRA members should be agreeing on.

*As always, there is no guaranteed unity in any group, and there are MRAs that would dismiss f-on-m rape as "feminist nonsense" while simultaneously mocking the victim for daring to complain about "free sex." Even when said victim is a minor. However, mockery is much more likely to happen the more conservative/traditional values/machismo the person is, or man-hating radfem "all men want to rape, that's why they're evil" if that doesn't apply.

Misandrists said the same thing about female perpetrators of domestic violence, they said it was a lopsided and heavily gendered issue.

The research is only just beginning to actually be done on this topic. But early indicators like the CDC's intimate partner violence study showing identical 12 month prevalence for men being made to penetrate and women being raped hint at the truth that women aren't these moral paragons elevated above the foul monstrous menfolk.

I dunno if they're as rare as you seem to think. The truth about female-on-male rape is that society reacts very differently to it than it does to male-on-female rape, and that differing reaction tends to lead to men not reporting it or not considering it rape. They may even convince themselves they weren't raped at all.

At its heart, rape is about power. Since idiots in society glorify male strength, the idea that a woman could be in a position to rape a man (which requires her to have some sort of power over him) tends to be laughed off; there's NO WAY a man could be raped against his will! Men are too strong for that! And this thinking leads to unreported rapes.

I hope no one thinks I'm trying to downplay male-on-female rape here, though. Rape is horrible, period.

Actually, so called "Men's Right Advocates" seem to be the most vehement opponents of the concept of female-on-male rape. While it is certainly counterintuitive that MRAs would reject a genuine Men's Right issue that would seem to fit perfectly into their narrative of feminists oppressing males, I suspect a few reasons:
- Their "tough guy" facade is so fragile that the mere insinuation that a man could be victimised by a woman threatens it.
- A man rejecting a woman's sexual advances goes against their "I'm a man, I can't help it!" excuses.
- They are repressing submissive fetishes.
- They are insane idiots.
Be it as it may, it demonstrates how illegitimate their claim to representing Men's Rights is.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment - it's quite possible for a genuinely good point to be brought up in order to distract from another genuinely good point.

"Men are raped and afraid to report" it is a genuinely good point. Using it as a response to "Women are raped and afraid to report it", in a contrarian manner is effectively throwing it around.

I'm not saying that's what's happening often, but I have seen it actually happen.

That being said there are feminists who claim that any discussion of men being raped is meant to disrupt the conversation about women being raped. And this makes them just as guilty as the people who do the former.

Both need to be discussed and without the need to feel like discussion is stepping on the toes of the other.

Good MRAs and Good Feminists should be identical.
