in respsonse to a post calling out someone who says they'd
leave a person to die in the snow because they voted for trump
Cool, hey so a lot of people don’t want to help people who think we’re less than them so if u want a pat on the back for helping racists idk what to tell you. I’m not helping people who voted for a shit bag who wants to deport me and strip my friends medical services. It’s not just “politics” it’s people’s views that some people deserve less because of their race, creed or religion.

Perhaps if you show racists that you're the better person, maybe they will start to think that perhaps not all minorities are bad after all. True, they may think that you're "one of the good ones," but you have to start somewhere.
It's not about agreeing with them, it's about basic human decency - demonstrating you're better than them, if you will. You would quite rightly flip your shit if a Trumpeter left a black person stranded in the snow.
I hate that you are probably Hispanic given your name and make guys like me look bad. Please cease being an idiot.
There's a small nugget of something in here though. I am undecided if it would be wrong or merely unacceptable to, say, leave a wounded Waffen trooper in the snow. But I don't buy absolute mercy as a concept. It seems silly. Understandable but silly. And religious at its core. Mercy makes sense but someone has to think about it. But the situation has to be as extreme as the one I mention. I was mostly inspired by the short comic "Divorcing Superman" by Kjartan Arnorsson.
After the inaugural address, I feel like most Trump supporters are less 'frothing racists' and more 'suckers who fell for a conman.' He said he'd fix their problems and they wanted that to be true so bad they voted him in. I think living with the fact that they were duped and incredibly wrong is enough punishment.
@Gabriel LaVedier
I'd probably leave a Waffen-SS in the snow but not a regular Wehrmacht soldier. On the grounds that the SS chose to enlist into his organization, but the footsoldier was conscripted and isn't necessarily a Nazi by heart.
But all that isn't really relevant for the issue at hand because this isn't a German soldier, this is a Trump supporter we're talking about. And contrary to popular belief a lot of Trump supporters didn't fall for the loud orange cheeto because of his racist and sexist rhetoric (though admittedly many did), but for his promises to help the working class. The majority of Trump voters are white working class families, and some of them are even disillusioned Democrats. This isn't black and white. And even if the Trump supporter in question wasn't a racist, I'd lose my moral high ground by bragging about not helping him.
OK, I get it, you don't want to invite them home, and you don't want to become best buddies, and you don't want to set up a lifetime relationship. That's fine. Show them your mature side and help them out. You might not change their opinion of you, but you never know.
I understand your antipathy toward them, but my reaction on election night was "how can they be so stupid". Note: the word I used was "stupid", not "nasty". Most of them have been lied to repeatedly by the candidate in question, and a good many of them will suffer under his policies. That makes them victims too.
So what you're saying is that you have the same lack of compassion and empathy you accuse others of, but it's ok because it's "them" that you don't care about?
This Team Red/Team Blue thing is insane... It's like leaving someone to die because they're a Patriots fan or a Brony.
What? These assholes on both sides sound like rabid fans rather than people interested in the function of their nation. Blind support, hatred of their rival team, celebrating/rioting when their team wins/loses...
@Scratch
" I feel like most Trump supporters are less 'frothing racists' and more 'suckers who fell for a conman.'"
So many of the former are also the latter. They have been so desperate for an up-in-front racist president instead of the I'm-not-really-racist George Bush/Mitt Romney types that they fell for Trump out of desperation. One reason Trump won is because these racists who don't vote for Republic candidates because they aren't racist enough came out from under their rocks and voted for Trump.
"He said he'd fix their problems and they wanted that to be true so bad they voted him in."
IOW they were willfully gullible.
"I think living with the fact that they were duped and incredibly wrong is enough punishment. "
But they won't be living with that fact. Their capacity for self delusion will find someone else to blame.
@AnonAtheist
While you are well in your rights to find me moronic and deplorable, I feel obliged to share why I supported Trump.
1. I don't trust Clinton, the Democratic part, or much left wing politics lately.
2. I don't trust China, or Russia, and think having a different approach to acting with them would be advisable.I will elaborate if you want me too.
3.He did not really seem all too sexist or racist to me this election, maybe a bit xenophobic, but I feel that we should be able to help lower income people, including minorities within America before we take in more refugees or illegal immigrants.
4.I appreciated his acceptance of LGBTQ people which is not all too common for right wing politicians, and his diversity in his cabinet.It may be predominately white male, but I don't the minority members are there just to make him look better.
4.
5. I appreciate his message of America forst. In South Africa, it is Party and Foreign Benefactors first, not the country.His under relaince on crowdsourcing and outside support is something I appreciate.
On a related note, the fact that he is not excactly popular within his own party is also good, as it means he won't likely be tied to the whims of his party.
6. Say what you will, he is a successful businessman. He took a million dollar loan from his father (not small,I know but hold on) and turned it into a multibillion dollar business
To conclude, I did not vote for him because i am xenophobic, racist,sexist,elitist, antisemitic(?), or because I simply hate liberals, its because I felt he was naturally a stronger leader.There is also the benfit in my mind that he is so vain and egotistical that he will try his damndest to "make america great again" to protect his image. Alas, we will have to wait and see, but please don't make unfounded comments about me, because I don't about you.
@Merlin: So treating all Hispanics as illegal immigrants (which he hired by the hundreds) & all Muslims & Middle Eastern people as terrorists, he didn't come off as racist? The way he constantly talks about & treats women (the whole MRA "grab 'em by the pussy" thing, plus his views on PP) didn't seem sexist? Wanting to cut welfare, lower taxes for the rich while raising them for the rest, appointing known white supremacists & rabid science-deniers to key positions that provoke conflict of intetest, passing unconstitutional orders from day 1, making up ridiculous lies left & right, ignoring the Constitution, and literally (not figuratively) acting like a fascist tyrant with absolute power from the moment he stepped into office didn't seem wrong to you?
Confused?
