Quote# 117863

I disagree. The current official relationship between men and women is so artificial and unnatural, so contrary to nature, so perverse and obscene, that if we were to revert to the eighteenth century system (strip women of the vote, place women firmly under the control of fathers or husbands, and treat any fertile age women without fathers or husbands as a problem to be solved like lost children) the inconceivably shocking would suddenly become the entirely normal, just as Trump casually opened up the Overton window.

When Trump said the unsayable, it suddenly became sayable. If the government were to do the undoable, it would suddenly become doable.

You know how when you pass a harsh shit test the drama instantly goes away, and then after a bit, everything comes up roses. Emancipation is a shit test. Pass it, there will be no drama, and, after a short interval as women realize men are not kidding, everything will come up roses.

Citizen Justin

Jim calls himself a libertarian. Evidently this doesn't include women.

Right, because in nature, animals vote, marry and fathers are around.........

1)Lost children are not a "problem to be solved"
2)I'm not entirely sure what you think the 18th century will do. You think it will be good but why? I need an answer more specific than "misogyny" because that's obvious.

I guess Jim has never heard of female dominant animal societies. You know, in nature.

What in the name of the Tower of Tentacles? How can someone who is so reactionary and authoritarian that the Nazis are progressive liberals to him claim to belong to an ideology that claims to represent freedom even hypocritically? HOW?!?

Except that, unlike Trump, YOU probably can't afford to import middle-European models who are willing to waste a few years with a man who is all mouth and ego in return for a few million in settlement.

Apparently current relationships are so artificial and unnatural that Jim feels it necessary to create artificial laws to keep women under control.

Listen Jim, we know that you want a perfect woman but maybe your efforts are best directed into saving up for a robot to fulfil all those desires so that you can leave women for men with more realistic expectations.

Well, Donald Fart's gonna wish he hadn't said what he did a day or so ago; not 24 hours afterwards, major volte-face a.k.a. Damage Control.

But as Todd Akin realised all too well a few years ago, there is a certain 'Third Rail': touching it results in political Death.

Perhaps, certainly after 2012, the GOP should excise certain thoughts from the mindset of all it's members. As certain concepts can be utterly lethal to them, due to the untold damage that can be wrought upon them in elections if anyone so much as thinks of mentioning such, then doing so is considered Thoughtcrime.

One such thought being the word 'Abortion'.

For a Liberturdian, you should know of the hypocrisy that Ron Paul represented:

Unless he can give birth, what the fuck does the matter have to do with him?

I’d really like to have a time machine, just to send idiots like this actually back to those time periods they are idealizing…

Poor wittle Jimbo! Equal partnerships clearly frighten him half to death. He needs women to have no other choice but to marry people like him, or be a constant burden on their parents or brothers. Otherwise no women will even look at him twice.

What about women past fertile age? Should they be left to starve to death if they don't have fathers or husbands?

darkevilme

and I you sent me back in time to your likely fictional utopia and gave me a woman I'd..

okay I'd go mad being taken away from the internet. But after that the woman wouldn't be happy that I'm dictating her every action and I wouldn't be happy that I'm having to spend time managing someone else's life. Being both anti authoritarian and not delusional about my own powers of judgement I have no desire for that power over others.

When Trump says it, it doesn't make it any more acceptable, you people just think it does because you're sheep. You don't believe in his policies, think he's on the right track or respect his record,,,

YOU WORSHIP HIM

This is the only way you can justify such following. Trump said it, it was wrong to do that until Trump said it. Do you hear yourself?

Why stop there? Go back to the 0th century when women were property.

No Jim, a lot of men would be murdered in their beds. I am no man's property. I choose to give OF myself to my boyfriend, but I am not his poperty.

Technically he almost has a point. The status of rights between men and women has come a long way.

On the other hand the things society in general and popular culture in particular teaches about relationships could really use some work.
