whenever i hear somebody calling anything "sacred", i smile, knowing they've just highlighted and underlined a concept they want me to accept as true but cannot rationally support. "sacred" is less an actual word, more a conceptual trigger meaning "i forbid you from attacking this idea which neither i nor my preacher could defend".

Except that many cultures had various degrees of acceptance of same-sex relationships, and even trans people before Christian imperialism crushed those opinions. So it's more like a couple hundred rather then thousands of years.
