Proverbs 10:27
“The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.”
The ungodly live for whatever gives them pleasure. They therefore involve themselves in illegal activities, indulge in alcohol, are given to the love of money and ambition, drink and drive, are given to anger and contention, and risk their lives with illegal drugs. They habitually overeat and develop the associated killer-diseases. They smoke cigarettes, speed in fast cars, risk their lives in extreme sports for a rush of adrenalin, their promiscuity brings sexually transmitted diseases, and they frequent bars and wild parties, where violence often breaks out.
However, the godly live God-fearing lives, and are therefore protected from many of these activities that so often result in premature deaths. The fear of the Lord prolongeth days.

Yeah, so being a door stop will get you a long life... maybe. And that's a big MAYBE.
Instead, why not take some calculated risks to have a little fun in life? This doesn't mean one should shoot smack, drink to excess, whore around or take stupid chances. But a little danger now and then is the spice of life. No pain, no gain.
Ray, I'd rather live short and happy than long and miserable.
So getting a long life in exchange for giving up all that's fun and living in constant fear of some malevolent deity that makes Slaanesh seem selfless is not a life I'd want.
"The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened."
Sure. Fear causes you to perceive time as having slowed down, but time flies when you have fun.
"The ungodly ... are given to the love of money and ambition"
That must be why you don't have any ambition and refuse to accept donations from others, right?
Nick Bate is a Christian.
He's now in jail.
And if, by late March, he's determined to be a SVP then the only way he'll be leaving prison is in a box .
Even if he isn't , this particular Christian won't survive prison.
...meanwhile, I don't have a criminal record for so much as spitting on the pavement. I'm an Atheist.
Tony Alamo. Josh Buggar. David J. Stewart. They're not the only ones, neither.
As the $cientologists would say, Ray Cumfart, 'What are your crimes...?'
@freako104
And not just prison records, besides the crime rates, murder, sex crimes, pedophilia, road rage, gun deaths and "accidental" gun deaths being higher in Christian America then other countries they're even higher in the Bible belt.
Add Teenage pregnancy, illiteracy, higher STDs, alcoholism, drug abuse and most certainly yes obesity to the Bible Belts higher 'sin' count.
The Obesity issue was debunked years ago when several other shits down there tried to pretend Christians were in better shape than others, stats already existed and had been published that showed the opposite, they were trying to promote some propagandist damage control as Ray is doing here.
Christianity doesn't help, been proven over and over. Most serial killers and mass shooters have been raised Christian and their Manifestos, confessions often revel religious reasons for their atrocities. Same as it ever was. They continually put out misinformation on those facts too.
About the only one he did up there that is equal on secular and national stats is gambling.
Even discounting statistics, let's get personal here:
In order, I hate alcohol, it makes me sick. I only want money so I can do things that I want to do without worrying about it and what's wrong with ambition, exactly? I'm actually very laid back and don't get angry at all (unlike a fair few christians I've met whose entire lives seem to be nothing but anger) I don't overeat or smoke because I know how unhealthy those things are. I don't own a fast car. I hate sports. And, lastly, I'm too socially anxious to be promiscuous or go to bars and parties.
So from my perspective, this is just another argument you've pulled directly out of your ass, Bananaman.
the godly live God-fearing lives, and are therefore protected from many of these activities that so often result in premature deaths.
What is a "God-fearing life"? Refusing to eat chicken and cheesecake with the same fork? Bowing towards Mecca and chanting in Arabic five times a day? Telling Jesus (telepathically) that he's your personal savior? Refusing to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding?
Besides, even if the godly live God-fearing lives, there's no evidence that they are protected. The Lisbon earthquake of 1755 struck on a Sunday and wiped out most of the city's churches while they were full of people praying. Oh, wait, those were Catholics - only Baptists like Ray get protected by God.
I do not indulge in any of those vices, with the possible exception of occasional over-eating. If that's what you think people do, you must have some wild parties in your Sunday school. Check out the religious bias of incarcerated prisoners, and I think you'll find them to be overwhelmingly Christian.
Hey Ray, when you're done with that brush, can I use it. I can paint my barn in 4 strokes that way.
Oh and Ray...this guy proves you wrong.

No. You don't live any longer. When you take any fun out of life, it just seems that way.
Raytard needs to work on his sales pitch. Personally, I think most people would rather live a short but free life (emphasis on 'live'), than putter about for a couple dozen decades as some ecumenical eunuch for Wrathie the Wonder=Delusion.
Doesn't the godly live for whatever gives them pleasure too? Look at Jerry Falwell and Rush Limbaugh, for example; they are/were not ascetic monks. So called "godly" people also involve themselves in illegal activities, indulge in alcohol and love money and ambition, drink and drive, give themselves to anger and contention and risk their lives with illegal drugs.
Sure, neither Rush nor Jerry ever overate, right?
This atheist doesn't even have a driver's licence, and I have never smoked anything. The riskiest "sports" I've done are biking to work and a trial at cross-country skiing. I've only had one sexual partner and am still married to him. Wild parties and bars are too late in the evening for me, I'd rather be in bed by ten.
Yup, Rush Limbaugh would never be addicted to any drugs! Oh, wait...
Truly, a life in fear and denial is a life well spent, might you live forever.
I on the other hand will indulge all this shell can take, breaking it is a risk I embrace, just as I embrace my life.
I've never smoked a cigarette in my life.
But Ray's rant about the "ungodly" sounds like the typical rant of fundamentalist Christians who think they know more about what non-Christians do than the non-Christians. Also while ignoring the fact that most people indulging in alcohol, drinking and driving, smoking cigarettes, having unprotected sex, and frequenting bars and wild parties where violence breaks out are Christians.
I gave up all that stuff, wild parties, illegal drugs, speeding, adrenalin sports, everything!
Longest ten minutes of my life.
Confused?
