I challenge all those who dress with no attention to modesty to explain how baring their bodies to men does anything to liberate themselves. [...] If we want society to treat us as liberated females why would we ever dress in ways that imply that our worth is based solely on how much sexual pleasure we can give to random men we pass on the street?
How is making our bodies for men's sexual fantasies liberating, especially when we have no control whatsoever what the men who see them are thinking about??? Once you show your body immodestly, you can never take that back. The image will remain in the memory of the men who see it, and they are free to do whatsoever with your image.
It used to be that men paid women to use them for sexual purposes. If that wasn't bad enough, today's society encourages women to let men use them for free.

Let's hear it for todays society.
Here's the thing, though: dressing "modestly" has never prevented any sort of sexual misconduct. Not fantasizing, not acting on those fantasies, nothing.
Just ask the women dressed in burkas or full nun's habits who have been raped. Or ask anybody who has a fetish for fully covered women. The bottom line is that men and women need to be taught to respect bodily integrity not bodily shame or to think of another persons body as their plaything because it exist and they find it attractive.
and why, pray tell, should you have any control whatsoever over what some random man who happens to see you might be thinking about? why should that be for you to dictate, or even influence?
I dress to keep warm, be cool, or look good for myself. I don't dress for men.
And, what about men who dress with no attention to modesty?
If we want society to treat us as liberated women, how we dress ought not to matter, as our worth is not in our physical appearance but in our mental capacity.
Again, what about the way men dress?
You might make your body for men's fantasies, but I don't.
You can dress in a sack and you still have no control whatsoever over what men are thinking about. As a matter of fact, women in burkas are raped, just as women in bikinis.
When men are used to seeing women's bodies, they are not able to keep each and every one in the memory.
Again, why the focus on women? Women use men too, ya know.
Fundie blaming women for men's lack of self-control #69841.
What else is new?
Look, "Rebecca", women are allowed to dress however they want. Being liberated means being allowed to dress however you want without anyone else imposing their will upon you. If men can't control themselves it's the men's problem. Not the women's, theirs and theirs alone.
And this is coming from a man who would not even dream of even groping a sexy woman that's half naked. Even if I overdosed on Aphrodisiacs. You know why? Because I have SELF! CONTROL!
Now, fantasizing (if that's what you're talking about), that's harmless. If a women saw me half naked and wanted to fantasize about me in private, I wouldn't mind at all. Hell, I'd probably be flattered.

Who says they do it to "liberate" themselves? I thought they did it to attract men.

Exactly! I completely agree. Hell, even if it was a guy, it wouldn't really upset me at all.
Exercising freedom of choice by choosing to dress however you damn well please is kliberating
While in some cases it might be confused with 'baring your body to men" there's no necessity that be the case--you could as easily elect to wear a hijab, or jeans and a sweatshirt, or a power suit, or whatever.

I wholeheartedly agree.
