In the end, then, scientists are indoctrinated at a very early age to be macroevolutionists; they are ridiculed throughout their careers if they believe otherwise; they usually cannot spare the time necessary to look into the facts regarding macroevolution; and they are often punished for believing anything else. These issues keep scientists from learning the data necessary to help them understand the fact that macroevolution is no more than an unconfirmed hypothesis.
Although this assessment is rather grim, we must point out that times are changing. More and more books questioning macroevolution are being written by respected university professors. These books have obviously had an impact. In 2004, a Gallup poll showed that only about one-third of Americans believe that Darwin's theory of evolution is supported by the evidence. Forty-five percent of Americans believe that God created human beings in their present form about 10,000 years ago. In addition, about 15% of high school teachers teach both creation and evolution side by side, and close to 20% of them reject macroevolution. Despite the fact that macroevolutionists have been trying to monopolize the education systems for decades, macroevolution has not gained much ground with students and teachers.

"Despite the fact that macroevolutionists have been trying to monopolize the education systems for decades, macroevolution has not gained much ground with students and teachers."
I suspect that to be a rather inaccurate statement.
Because most people don't concern themselves with the complexities of Biology and of those that even considerer it many prefer the simplicity and safer belief around elders of "God did it".
Type "things American believe" into Google when you have a free afternoon and want some real revelation. The stats on the "natural formation" of the Mount Rushmore presidents should shake you up a bit,, oh wait,, you're probably one of those stats.
Evolution is not something that you can learn in Sunday school, in handy little ten-minute segments. It takes years of study to be a scientist. God-myths, however, can be impressed upon innocent children very easily. They only give that up when they grow up. Yes, a scientist will be justifiably ridiculed for a creationist viewpoint, just as much as he would be for writing a list to Santa Claus., and for the same reason.

Fixed.
"they usually cannot spare the time necessary to look into the facts regarding macroevolution; and they are often punished for believing anything else. You reeeallly don't understand the definition of scientist, do you?
It's a good thing then that science is not governed by Gallup polls, but by evidence. Something like 95 percent of scientists accept the ToE as evidence-based, and there are more scientists called Steve (in some form) than there are scientists who are cretinists.
Scientists are also indoctrinated to be anti-phrenologists and anti-alchemists, and are ridiculed throughout their career if they believe in phrenology or alchemy.
Scientists spend most of their time finding new things, trying to solve unsolved questions. They don't waste expensive time proving what has already been proven. And, the burden of proof is on you. Microevolution and Macroevolution are the exact same process, just on different time-scales.
More and more books support the idea of UFO's and the Illuminati as well. It's just easier now to print books, and with e-books, you don't even have to print them; just spread them over the Net to the gullible masses.
More and more books questioning macroevolution are being written by respected university professors.
Name one that's not written by a 'professor' in a un-accredited Bible college. Anything published by 'Answers in Genesis' doesn't count either, they're not 'respected'.
"they usually cannot spare the time necessary to look into the facts regarding macroevolution;"
They're IN THE FIELD, the ACTUAL PROFESSION. Who would have looked into it more you immense fool? That quote above is your people, your theologically indoctrinated except it's not a matter of time, it's a matter of effort and the background ONLY biological students/researchers have.
"More and more books questioning macroevolution are being written by respected university professors."
This isn't even true as he's referring to Christian Colleges and the loosest possible definition of professor. Even then It's about the same level for the last decade as it's the same professors of bullshit, so much easier than real science
they usually cannot spare the time necessary to look into the facts regarding macroevolution
Then that person is not a scientist or, indeed, any kind of scholar.
Forty-five percent of Americans believe that God created human beings in their present form about 10,000 years ago. In addition, about 15% of high school teachers teach both creation and evolution side by side, and close to 20% of them reject macroevolution.
This is not evidence of the correctness of the belief. And where besides the education system - if local school boards don't approve creationist textbooks anyway - would a high school kid in Louisiana or Texas hear about how animals and plants came to be?
In 2004, a Gallup poll showed...
So you had to go back over 11 years to find statistics that back up your claim?
scientists are indoctrinated at a very early age

Methinks this person has never seen a university from the inside.
@ solomongrundy The "respected university professor" is Dr. Michael J. Behe, who, against all reason, teaches biochemistry at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He's written several books that are pushed by the Discovery Institute. There may be a couple of other ID nuts that have gotten college positions, and it often takes student complaints about proselytizing to get rid of these moles.
I'm afraid that the statistics about how many Americans are Creationists are pretty close to the truth. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/05/americans-believe-in-creationism_n_1571127.html
At school I was indoctrinated into the religion of numeracy. No matter how hard I tried to convince the teachers otherwise, they never accepted that 1*1=2 or 2*2=8. Since I can't be wrong, it must mean they cannot spare time to look into the fact of numeracy, which I, as the intellectual that I was at 7 years of age, had deducted for myself. Anyone that goes against the grain gets low marks for their work, thus punishing them in order to become followers of the cult of numeracy. Modern numeracy is no more than an unconfirmed hypothesis that doesn't stack against the overwhelming evidence that numeracy only works because of God, so if 1*1 truly does equal 1 it's only because Goddidit.
"These books have obviously had an impact."
Don't make me laugh. The percentage of creationists is high in the USA, but it continues to dwindle as it continues to lose relevance and people realise the breakthroughs that have been made because of true science. Outside of your echo chambers fewer people are taking notice of creationist dogma. Those high numbers are only indicative of the poor education on evolution and the success religion has had in the past to indoctrinate.
"In 2004, a Gallup poll showed that only about one-third of Americans believe that Darwin's theory of evolution is supported by the evidence."
True. It only shows how BAD the American Educational System is. If teaching of Science were done properly, 99% would KNOW that the evidence supports Evolution apodictically. (The other 1% are the usual total idiots who could not find their asses with both hands.)
Confused?
