yep, even these same naysayers today would never believe that "social cleansing" of places did not involve the obliteration of all evidence of these past "rulers" and their symbols/names ... as they cheer the Confederate flag, the Decalogue, & any reference of "God The Creator" removed from "Public" for fear of the FFRF...

I wager that we(The USA) will be the laughing stock of judgment day when the group of frail cowards(the least offensive description of reality) over at the FFRF calling themselves lawyers is put on display..... Why do these cowards not take on the giant graven religious goddess ISIS renamed Liberty on public land in NY’s harbor?… Or the National Cathedral home to homosexual & Islamic religions in DC? … Or the mandating of Darwinism in public schools?

Where is the Fools Following Religious Fiction(FFRF) & their cowards where actual “congress” might be found to be violating the 1st amendment in the bill of rights … instead of cash strapped school districts & communities? Missing in action!O_o! They are COWARDS, that is why.

You talk of violating Amendment I yet say not a damn thing about those that wluld overthrow it and make Christianity the national religion.

First of all, any screed beginning with the non-word "yep" is immediately attributable to a shit-for-brains.

Second, any time a person insists on calling the theory of evolution "Darwin-ism," one immediately knows just what kind of delusional, pre-progammed Creationist parrot one is dealing with.

Third, YOU are not, "we" the USA.

You are laughing stock, but your imaginary God lacks the ability to tell you so.

If you knew the difference between an informed argument and preaching to the choir, you might have the slightest degree of relevance. Sadly for you, that won't ever be possible in your lifetime.

There is no relationship between Isis (the egyption goddess) and ISIS (which is an acronym of a translation (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, not to mention that its often rendered ISIL, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant). The Statue of Liberty also fails to match any depiction of Isis that has ever existed and to say that those who hold that it does are fringe lunatics is being unfair to fringe lunatics.

The National Cathedral is entirely privately managed, owned and funded.

The teaching of evolutionary theory in Science class is necessary for any one working in biology or chemistry given that its the best explanation to date we have for antibiotic and antiviral resistance, as well as the way stock breeding works. Its also related to genetic engineering and several fairly advanced areas in computer science (most biologically inspired algorithms make use of some variant of selection pressure).

Holy fuck. You retards really DO worship the fucking damned Confederate flag like some sort of religious icon.

What did your God have to say about idolatry again?

"...the giant graven religious goddess ISIS renamed Liberty...".? I think you and your campaign against FACTS will be a laughingstock a lot sooner than that unscheduled-and-long-overdue judgement day. "Darwinism" (I assume you mean evolution) is in schools because it is science, and the students in this supposedly-enlightened country lag far, far behind their counterparts in other countries in science. You and your ilk are the reason why.

You guys are bi-polar. One minute you complain about God for not doing anything about the evil in the world. And when he does do something about the evil in the world. He get call out for it. Make up your minds you big babies.

You people just love sinning/doing evil things. Then stop getting mad at God every time he deals with the wicked people. They deserved death, and if it wasn't for Jesus. We all be goners by now, of course even in the OT God is merciful, and slow to anger.

ok, Sweetie-pie, let's break this down.

OH no God is rightfully judging us. He is a monster for getting rid of the wicked people. Shame on him.

The god of the bible is a schizophrenic, tyrannical demiurge. Go read some of Anna's post for a clearer idea.

You guys are bi-polar. One minute you complain about God for not doing anything about the evil in the world. And when he does do something about the evil in the world. He get call out for it. Make up your minds you big babies.

Haven't you ever heard of a hypothetical argument? We just call BS when you god-bots say how great your god is & then ask if that's so, why does it let children die of starvation every day. Name one example where it has done anything about the "evil in the world". Anything that can be solely attributed to it.

You people just love sinning/doing evil things. Then stop getting mad at God every time he deals with the wicked people. They deserved death, and if it wasn't for Jesus. We all be goners by now, of course even in the OT God is merciful, and slow to anger.

Again, list something solely attributed to your god where it "deals with wicked people". And who are you to judge who deserves death? I'm reminded of the quote from Gandalf to Frodo in LotR "Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.”

Also:

God is a righteous judge but some people are too foolish to see that.

We can see that your god is one of the worst creations in man's endeavor to explain the unknown. Why you lot still worship the tribal deity of a bunch on bronze age goat herders is beyond me.

... instead of cash strapped school districts & communities?

Because there are no greater or worthier priorities for a cash-strapped school board than buying creationist textbooks, erecting religious monuments and fighting doomed lawsuits.

Doubting Thomas

How would you like it if Muslims got their religion put into the public sphere? What if a county courthouse put up a crescent statue with an engraving saying "There is no god but Allah?" Your lot would be throwing the biggest shit fit ever. Hell, when Muslims built mosques on private property you hypocrites were frothing at the mouth about how that shouldn't be allowed.

And we already are a laughingstock. My nephew told me about how many foreign students he knew at his college who were genuinely baffled and somewhat frightened at the level of religiousness of Americans.

@Tempus

What did your God have to say about idolatry again?

That commandment doesn't count when you're worshiping Ten Commandment statues or crosses on public property, or the Confederate flag.

When they removed Judge Roy Moore's Ten Commandments statue from the Alabama Supreme Court building, one of the fundies protesting was actually caught on camera shouting, "Get your hands off our god!"

Doubting Thomas

@Sweetride:

Please list one instance you can conclusively show where God has truly punished the wicked. The trouble with people like you is that you point to various natural disasters and claim that it was God's punishment for various sins, without seeming to realize that quite a few innocent people were injured or killed, too. Or you point to a natural disaster which is totally incongruous to any supposed sins. For instance, a tornado rips through a bible belt town and you claim that it's God's vengeance for people having gay sex in San Francisco. Even during Hurricane Katrina numerous churches were wiped out but strip clubs were left standing. It's almost like the natural disasters hit without any divine guidance.

You know, this guy may have a point for entirely the wrong reason: an unfortunate percentage of the US would be a laughing stock on judgment day... because of people like this.

To bring the book into it:

Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

I've been trying to remember that one for a while, so I finally looked it up. In other words, assholes like you that make the world a more miserable place, that run against the teachings of the faith you promote, are going to be rather surprised when you hear this.

My apologies for dredging this up to throw in, but it fit so very well.

@Sweetride

First, Sweetride, I AM, in fact, bipolar. I resent the implication that indecision or duplicitousness is part of my disorder.

Second, multiple consecutive posts? You do know there's an edit button, right?

Third, have you noticed that it doesn't seem to be the areas most like yourself would call 'wicked and sinful' that get hit? As others here have observed, if the Creator is 'punishing evil', its aim sucks worse than mine with a shotgun.

Fourth, you seem to believe that Jesus acts as a restraining bolt for the wrath of a deity of nothing but vengeance and judgment. Even the Bible itself does not support this view. It seems that, like so many other people that have gotten frustrated with a changing society, you have latched on to the worst aspects of your chosen faith and largely discarded the positive.

Otherwise, See Doubting Thomas's post. Honestly, if Katrina was any indication (among other similar disasters), God seems rather miffed with the church. Which I'm sure has nothing to do with turning a message of community, support, charity, and making the world a better place into a greedy, bigoted factory of hate. You'd almost think, given the things spared, that the Creator wants people to be happy. Strange concept, I know.
