Gimmie a break, ProudToBeAnAsianBigot666; To Westerners, most of those Anime characters look white to begin with, even if we know they're supposed to be Asian!

I'll demonstrate with Anime I grew up with long ago....

These characters just don't look Asian to me! When I was really little, I had no idea these were Japanese cartoons that were re-dubbed in English to re-named characters. Western-made Asian cartoon characters tended to actually "look Asian"...

....sometimes realistically (like these ladies above), & sometimes, stereotypically, (like that 'Rice Krinkles' mascot from the fifties or the Japanese in WWII cartoons...who resembles weird yellow rat-demons).

Yes, I'm aware that Princess Allura (the pretty blonde girl) is technically an extraterrestrial but all characters, be they earthly or from space, were assumed by the Japanese to be "Japanese" unless noted otherwise. Their names in their original, non-Western versions were Japanese names (Rick Hunter's real name was Hikaru Ichijyo. The G-Force were not 'Mark Jason, Princess, Tiny & Keyop' but 'Ken Washio, Joe Asakura, Jun, Ryu Nakanishi & Jinpei', respectively).

The point is, anyone can be any Anime character and you are a bigot!

Now if someone blatantly does "Black/Red/Yellowface", in the other hand, that's a problem!

Then there's the issue of Black in anime. They seldom appear but when they do, they would make William Bedford Forrest proud....

But Macross/Robotech's Claudia would be an exception, she's great....

@SpukiKitty - To be fair, anime has gotten better on the race issue in the past 20-25 years IMO (even though some of Japan has fallen into an ultranationalist funk, what with Shinzo Abe and all). In the past 20 years there's been a lot more Animes with realistically Asian-looking characters (like Basilisk, Inuyasha, Samurai Champloo, Durarara, School Rumble, Bleach, Samurai 7, etc.) and white-looking characters are now often explicitly explained to actually be Westerners (or of European decent) or half-white. There's also been a noticeable increase of black and Hispanic characters in anime and positive (non-offensive-looking) black characters. Like in Bleach, Samurai 7, Durarara, Basquatch (the main Japanese character actually has a romantic subtext with an attractive black female character), Black Lagoon, etc. I think it's because of increased Japanese exposure to black and Hispanic tourists and immigrants and Japanese animation companies and mangaka are realizing nonwhite people in the West watch anime too.
