Read the Gospels and the first part of Acts. Eeyup! Jesus & them early Christenes were all HIPPIE RED COMMIES!!!!
[NOTE: 'Christenes' is taken from 'The Aquarian Gospel'. Basically 'Nazarene + Christian'. I'll use this instead of 'Nazarene' since some super-frummy denomination has pilfered that name.]
Now, I'm aware that some youth back then were into Communism but I think they were either naive or unaware of how hellish life in the USSR, Cuba, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. really was.
Also, Communism, while it sounds nice on paper, can't work when applied to a country. Socialism, on the other hand, can.
Communism would work best on a very small scale, like living arrangements (communes, kibbutzes, etc.).
Being the pragmatist I am, I feel that the governments/economies that work are a mix of Socialism and a controlled, regulated Capitalism. Things work best with a balance of opposites making up a whole. A Yin-Yang....
* Socialist-Capitalism.
* Realist-Idealism & Cautious-Optimism.
* Androgynarcy (the best of Matriarchy & Patriarchy social structures).
* Androcracy (equal rule and status of male/men & female/women).
* Faith & Reason.
etc.
Perhaps that's the answer to all the "isms" of the world...WE NEED BALANCE!
