Quote# 104113

Every atheist we have ever encountered through The Refiner's Fire website, has the same lame reasoning when it comes to God and the Bible - and, it turns out, most of them have little or no understanding of the Bible. Even those who proclaim to be former Christians and have some actual Bible knowledge, have misunderstood what they thought they knew - which is blatantly obvious by the things they proclaim.

It was Satan's plan all along to confuse the masses, and he's done a very good job! Atheists are proof of this; Satanists are proof of this; and the myriad "Christian" denominations are proof of this. Hardly anybody picks up the Bible to check the facts for themselves. Atheists claim to "think for themselves" but the bottom line is, they do not; most of them simply jump on the bandwagon of hate (as evidenced by the evil spewed forth in atheist websites), and take the word of others in order to form their own opinions....

There's a Satan? With a plan? So now it's not enough that I have to wait for some fundy who deigns that it is the right time to reveal to me the secret compelling evidence for the existence of Bible God, but I've also got to wait for some fundy who deigns that it is the right time to reveal to me the secret compelling evidence for the existence of Satan.

1) Everyone takes the word of others to form their opinions. We listen to various sides and decide on who has the most compelling case. That's how opinions get formed. You did so yourself by listening to others' opinions about the Bible.
2) Atheists are not proof of anything other than there are people who don't believe in a god.
3) Satanists are not proof of anything except that some people, not necessarily the Satanists themselves, believe that Satan exists.
4) The myriad Christian denominations are proof of... well, you would do well to take a course in the history and sociology of religion.
5) Just because you don't like the way someone practises Christianity does not make them not Christian.
6) Come to FSTDT and you'll see that the Bible is more frequently referenced than any other book.
7) "Misunderstood" is a matter of your interpretation against theirs. That interpretation needs to have some basis to it; just like throwing around Jewish terms doesn't make your theology Jewish if it relies on a very Christian view of Satan.
8) As for a bandwagon of hate, I think I see one at the top of this page...

Talk about planks.

Hardly anybody picks up the Bible to check the facts for themselves.

The Bible is hardly the place to go if you're looking for facts. How did Judas die again?

Mister SPak

"the myriad "Christian" denominations are proof of this. "

Which one of the myriad "christian" denominations are you in?

10/17/2014 5:35:24 AM

Doubting Thomas

most of them have little or no understanding of the Bible.

Except most of them who do. You do know there was a poll which showed that atheists tend to have better understanding of the bible than Christians, don't you? But I bet that by "little or no understanding" you really mean "they won't accept my explanation as to why the bible doesn't say what it says."

the myriad "Christian" denominations are proof of this.

So, all those other Christian denominations are wrong and misled by Satan except yours. You do know that they're saying exactly the same thing about your denomination, don't you?

Well, then, it must have been Satan who wrote that incredibly confusing bible. I thought as much.

Least of all you, apparently.

Right, as opposed to those who sit in church and take their pastor's word that god really hates homosexuals, abortion, sex outside of marriage, etc.

Sorry, Carmen. I'll read the entire Bible again, and this time I'll keep alert for facts. Honest. I'll start tomorrow. Or the next day.

...so why are you homophobic, Jer: If - unlike we Atheists - you somehow have your own 'opinions' completely separate from what your 'Christian Bible' says, Jer?

http://www.fstdt.net/QuoteComment.aspx?QID=116762&Page=1#1914411

@Pharisee Jerry

"The true Christian has no likes or dislikes as far what the Bible teaches"

Therefore you'll tear out of your Bible any & all pages that conflict with your differing thinking, will you not? Just ask Thomas Jefferson. That's what he did with his.

Editing the Christian Bible for his personal purposes, and to conform to his differing way of thinking. Just as you do. Just as every other fundie Christain does: it's called Cherrypicking: making the Bible conform to their own subjective 'opinions'.

Because that's what you - who thinks for himself, and would tell the basis of his own 'beliefs' to go fuck itself - would never do, amirite Jer...?! [/hyper-sarcasm]

I guess that's why you don't have any mirrors in your house.

...cue Mister Spak, and a pic of the main reflecting element in the Hubble Space Telescope.

One more thing: if the 'Elect' are predestined for salvation before anything was created by your 'Lord', then it's always been that way: way before you were created to say 'it doesn't have to be this way'.

Apart from certain high-end makers - usually in Switzerland, Germany, Italy & a few other countries: they being Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, Eterna, Baume et Mercier, Jaeger LeCoultre, Panerai, Junghans, Sinn etc - most watches have quartz movements. Sekonda. Accurist. Timex. Casio. Citizen. Seiko. So the Seiko adverts in the late 1970s were correct: 'Someday, all watches will be made this way.'

Unless your 'Lord' has somehow delegated his 'Who's Saved and who isn't' powers to you alone, how do you know that all we Atheists aren't among the 'Elect'? Can you prove otherwise? Can you discern if Jack Chick is one of the 'Elect', Jer...?! You must be able to: you relie on his tracts so much: even though you yourself have admitted that Chick is a liberal source.

If his tracts serve such a great purpose for you, which require you to mention & link such to us, therefore Chick must be like you - one of the 'Elect' - surely...?! But then, how can he be one of the 'Elect', if Chick is, by your own admission, a liberal and therefore Satanic? Ergo, by virtue of your mentioning & linking such, you yourself can never be one of the Elect.

'Contextualise' your way out of that little doctrinal/logical/argumental corner you've painted yourself into, Jer. If you can.

Swede

Lame reasoning? It doesn't make sense, there is no evidence for any of it, and the Harry Potter books have better consistency.
I'd say it's the fundies who have little or no understanding of the Bible, and that's why they believe in it.

I can't really say I was a Christian. I was brought up in a Christian culture, sure, and believed more in some kind of deity than I ever did in Santa Claus. During my first three years in school, we had Christianity lessons a couple of times per week. After year three, they were renamed Religion lessons, and included the other main religions as well. Sweden had a state church back then; it wasn't formally removed until I was 31. I'm still a tax-paying member of the Swedish church by choice, not from laziness. I didn't turn atheist until about three years ago; I sat at work and suddenly realized that there is more evidence against a heaven than for it, that I will probably never see my grandmother or other dead loved ones again, and I almost started crying. Until recently I liked going to church, for the ritual and tradition, and the hymn singing. The last two times, I have almost started crying again, for the loss of safeness, tradition, heaven. But I can't make myself believe in fairy-tales in order to feel safe.

Have we misunderstood that Jesus states at least four times that he wants his disciples/followers to sell all their possessions and give the money to the poor? (Matt 19:21, Luke 12:33, Luke 18:22, and Mark 10:21)
Oh yeah, Satan did a very good job confusing the masses when he wrote the Bible.

As long as religious people aren't infringing on the civil rights of others, I don't care one way or the other about religion; no bandwagon of hate here. People are free to be Mennonites, Baptists, Pastafarians, Hindus, Buddhists, Whovians, whatever they like, as long as it's all consensual and adult.
