[Exert of a response to an angry Walmart employee who didn't take kindly to Walsh's bashing of Walmart employees on twitter.]
Thank you for your insightful reflections, Bob. You raise some interesting points, yet I can’t help but feel slightly confused by your hatred for one of the only organizations in the world that would actually pay a salary to someone like you.
I should explain that when I say “someone like you,” I mean someone with an abysmal, self-entitled attitude, who is proud of making no effort and providing subpar service to customers. You seem to think that you should only perform well if you’re paid well, but the unfortunate reality is that you will only be paid well when you perform well. This is a concept called “earning.” To “earn” literally means “to receive as return for effort.” So, if Merriam-Webster is any judge, you haven’t earned anything. You confess to your lack of effort, which means you confess to the fact that you aren’t even earning the minimal salary which you’re currently collecting. You are one of Walmart’s charity cases, and you should be thanking them, not sobbing about those villainous CEOs who “buy private jets.”

Fuck you, you entitled prick. Employers are not doing you a favour by paying you minimum wage, you are doing them a favour by agreeing to rent your labour. Just kill yourself painfully, you obnoxious cunt. I hope you die screaming.
but the unfortunate reality is that you will only be paid well when you perform well.
There's no guarantee of that at all. If he makes no effort, he will not be employed. Perhaps you should look up Merriam-Webster for "employ."
Hey Matt, Walmart encourages it's employees to seek government aid like food stamps and Medicaid to survive. New employees unless they're upper management don't get more than 25 hours a week and depending on the department they work in, get minimum wage. I should know because at one time I worked for Walmart. The turnover there was terrible. If I go to the local store now, I see new faces all the time. Older faces are all but gone from the place.
I worked for Walmart for 8 months. During that time I worked my ass off, as was instilled into my work ethic at a young age. I put in 40 hours a week stocking shelves on the graveyard shift and I took great pride in my work even though I was getting just over minimum wage. The entire time I worked there, I was still looking for another job. The day I gave my notice that I was quitting, my shift supervisor put her head on my shoulder and asked, "Why do the good ones always leave?" I answered, "Because we find better jobs." To which she replied, "I know. I wish you the best of luck."
Walmart customer service is horrendous, in my experience, but that's what you get when you make people work for a slave wage.
Walsh refuses to realize that we're not in a worker's economy nowadays. When you have less jobs than people willing to do them, your employer does not have to pay you your fair share: They can just replace you
Wal-Mart gets what it pays for. You treat your employees like crap, you get crap work in return. I suppose it makes sense, since everything Wal-Mart sells is crap.
I sincerely hope that one day Matt Walsh has to work at Wal-Mart, for minimum pay & no benefits.
You get what you pay for. If you're barely ready to pay minimum wages, you get minimum service from your employees.
I bet there are quite a few people who are more educated and experienced than you, stupid, who have looked for jobs in their field, but couldn't find any, and had to resort to junk jobs for the time being, to be able to almost pay the rent. In Sweden, lots of college/university students work at McDonald's etc, to get some extra cash besides the student loan, so odds are that the one handing you a Big Mac is a future doctor. (The education is mostly free in Sweden, but books and other equipment is not, and nor is rent and food.)
Many folk at Walmart perform well, better then shit like Matt here would ever be capable of, the money will NEVER come, the REWARD is not Walmart policy.
Most Walmart employees are paid so low they require government social assistance.
This means YOU, The TAXPAYERS are SUBSIDIZING Walmarts workforce costs and most fast food chains costs.
It's really amazing how so many in the American right wing are behind their God placed royalty. Hey here's an idea, take your kingdom somewhere else and see how long the serfs remain complacent.
YOU DIDN'T FUCKING BUILD IT, YOUR LEECHING OFF OF IT. We've met the "welfare moms" and yes, they're living in mansions, jetsetting and not paying taxes, THEY'RE THE FUCKING WALTON FAMILY.
Self-styled libertarian conservatives are as self-entitled, self-absorbed and narcissistic as they accuse liberals of being. I've yet to meet one who actually accepted responsibility for their own failures consistently (successes, yes--they'll gladly take credit for those all day; failures, not a chance). Practically every one of them is convinced that material wealth and fame are right around the next corner. And when that success fails to materialize, practically everyone of them I've ever met--including those in my own family--are quick to blame EVERYONE ELSE for it.
And they flat-out hate it when other people catch a break or receive help...but not themselves, because unlike all those OTHER assholes they deserve it because they're so, so special.
If you pay people a sub-par salary, they are going to provide sub-par service; you get what you pay for. Also, if the workers have to do three different jobs to make a living wage, you're going to get very tired workers.
I worked so much harder when I worked at McD, than I do today at the office of a world-wide production company, but I make about twice now than I did then.
No, no, Walmart is one of the US's charity cases. You help them raise their profit through your taxes, which pay for the Medicaid and Social services that their workers need to stay afloat. Their CEO's are perfectly entitled to buy private jets AFTER THEY HAVE PAID THEIR WORKERS A LIVING WAGE, and provided them with dental etc.
I doubt today's Walmart owners have to make any effort at all, they can just sit back an relax and live off their parents's work, and the taxpayers' assistance to their workers.
Confused?
