I think he does have a point though I don't agree with the way he said it.
By now it should be obvious to anyone that while atheists can be left-wing or right-wing, the so-called "New Atheism" or "Militant Atheist Movement" or whatever you want to call it is a left-wing movement with roots in cultural marxism.
It doesn't "hate God" but it hates religion, particularly Christianity which it over-demonizes and over-criticizes. A lot of the criticism isn't accurate, for example Christianity doesn't follow all the laws in the Torah, apart from maybe some fringe sect in the middle of nowhere. But militant atheists insist they do and that they want to kill homosexuals and force rape victims to marry their rapist. Strangely, militant atheism isn't quite as critical of Islam, even though Islam is a demonstrably supremacist political ideology with ambitions of global conquest (see Surah 9:29) and not merely a religion, nor have these teachings of warfare ever been reformed. The Torah is largely irrelevant for Christianity and for much of modern Judaism too, however the Quran and Sunnah is not irrelevant for Islam, which is what Sharia law is based on.
Militant atheism was never about "reason" or "logic" and most militant atheists are very average people, to put it politely, they're hardly pillars of intellect that Mensa is looking for nor are they very cultured. They know very little about theology too. So what is it really about then? Subversion of traditional western culture. Whether you agree with it or not, that is what militant atheism contributes to, a wider leftist agenda intended to:
- erode the nuclear family which is the backbone of raising the next generation, notice that as the west became more leftist they started having fewer and fewer children
- erode male/female distinctions to unrealistic levels
- demoralize the population, militant atheists have no evidence that a godless society will be a better one or that most people can be happy without some belief in a god or afterlife
- erode free market competition
- erode patriotism and nationalism so that people are unwilling or too demoralized to defend their country when needed
- expand the power of the government as leftists believe a strong government will bring about an earthly utopia of equality
Don't get me wrong, legitimate criticism of traditional western culture can be made, but militant atheism goes overboard and it's really no coincidence that a good chunk of it mutated into Atheism Plus - which is overtly socialist and culturally marxist. They are just going back to their roots and taking their militant atheism to its final conclusion.
You'll notice that virtually all militant atheists are liberals or leftists and when they're not busy bashing Christianity they're busy bashing Republicans, or whatever right-wing party operates in their country.

Not to say they are bad people, they're just useful idiots who've been suckered by empty slogans like "REASON" and "LOGIC".
