[On the discovery of the "echo" of the Big Bang.]

Satan is playing his hand...
I think this is just his way to get peoples eyes off God especially with the release of this movie NOAH. It will get people thinking about God again and he has to sow his doubt in peoples hearts to keep their eyes on the world and not even consider the fact that the bible could be truth.

Tempus

Every time a movie that's even remotely based on a Biblical story comes out, people like this insist on trying to make some sort of new Bible chapter out of it. It happened with "Passion of the Christ," it happened with "Left Behind, and it's happening with "Noah." And by and large, they seem to be the same people who were up in arms over roleplaying games and Harry Potter novels.

It's like they can't completely comprehend the concept of "fiction."

Pst, Southgirl. Don't be too shocked, but the director of "Noah" is one of these heathen atheists. So don't get up your hopes too high.

"Oh, noes! The evidence! It must be of the devil!"

@Tempus
It's like they can't completely comprehend the concept of "fiction."
Because they can't.

Mister Spak

The movie Noah is Satans way to keep peoples eyes of Allah and keep their eyes on the world and not even consider that the fact that the Koran is truth.

not even consider the fact that the bible could be truth

Yep, that's me alright.

Haven't you caught up with the Fundamentalist marching orders?

You're to not like the new Noah movie because it's "inaccurate" and therefor damn near blasphemy, according to your heroes who seem to think they have a copyright on the story or some such shit.

Either that or they realized bussing church groups to The Passion resulted in less money in the collection plates and no new flock members so the churchs position is now to run down any Biblical films not beneficial to their well-being.

Now if Ham, Limbaugh or Santorum finance a version they'll be right behind it but Hollywood will never trick their parishoners outta the churchs cash-flow again if they have anything to say about it.

P.S. Ham is definately trying to imply the Noah story is the property of his and a few select partners in crime, electing themselves to a position of the final arbiters of any Biblical based project. Fundies yet, the most Dogmatic superstitious add-tooers of all sects posing as Scholars.

Through hard work some very smart, driven people learn something amazing about the universe and your first thought is Satan? DIAF!

Isn't God suppose to be infinite is power while Satan is finite. Satan is only able to do anything because God does not see him as a threat or should I say he lets Satan mess with us.

Satan is another construct of the church, designed to mitigate personal responsibility ("The devil made me do it", anyone?) and to scare Pagans into the pews.

Satan seems to work veeery slowly. The calculations/predictions that the echo has now proven were done several decades ago, weren't they?

The more we think about gods, the more improbable they seem.
The Bible can't be the truth, as it contradicts observable reality, and itself.

A propaganda technique that involves a barely perceptible noise in the Cosmic Microwave Background would mean that you suck at propaganda!

If this "devil" guy is so scary can't he at least hire some decent PR flacks?

Every time some big bible-based movie comes out, I hear Christians talking about how "this movie is going to bring a lot of people back to the church." And yet, church attendance continues to fall.

I must have been on fstdt too long, since now it's only slightly disturbing to hear a scientific discovery be called a lie of Satan.

@Canadiest:

Then Ham will have to duke it out with Ray Comfort. Apparently Ray announced that he will release his own Noah movie at the same date as the Arronovsky one will premiere.

Nobody has a monopoly on the truth...least of all some 2,000-year-old, archaic, usually misogynistic, often racist Bronze Age book that has been translated umpteen times, has passages added and removed...even your Bible's translators can't agree.

"the release of this movie NOAH. It will get people thinking about God again"

...not really:

"Bruce Almighty":

Budget $81 million
Box office $484,592,874

The sequel "Evan Almighty", which - like "Noah" - involved an 'Ark':

Budget $175 million
Box office $173,418,781

It bombed worse than "Waterworld", and sank like a lead Ark quicker than the eponymous ship in "Titanic", which - unlike "Left Behind: The Movie" - ensured James Cameron's meteoric rise to Godlike status in Hollywood (to say nothing of "Avatar"; $1 billion in just 17 days...?!)

"Left Behind: The Movie":

Budget $4,000,000
Box office $4,224,065

"Harry Potter":

Budget Total (8 films): $1,155,000,000
Box office Total (8 films): $7,723,431,572

(Part II):

Like I say, Ruptured Retards: James Cameron, via his "Avatar", made $1 billion in just 17 days. He has proven he can make money, thus the studios can give him blank cheques, safe in the knowledge that he can make them profits.

Oh, I'm afraid that Satan holds all the aces in this particular poker game; like Hollywood, there's also the record industry; he has all the best tunes, does he not...?!

And that's before scientific R&D is involved too. Those behind the Big Bang 'theory' have all but been awarded that Nobel Prize. Not many gaps left, eh RR? The Cre(a)ti(o)nists behind the defence in Kitzmiller vs. Dover? Nothing but Humble Pie in perpetuity (that's the problem with 'Theories': they have a rather nasty habit of becoming FACTS).

Like I say: Satan holds all the aces in that particular poker game. And ALL the other games in his casino that is Reality; remember, in that one, as well as all those in Las Vegas, Reno etc: the house always wins.

What, you think people will be so hypnotized about the religiosity of Russel Crowe and the girl from Harry Potter, they'll get down on their knees? Personally I'm waiting for the scene Noah gets "drunk" and his laying around his tent naked and...well, you know. Because how are you going to do something so gross in a tasteful, christian manner?

So according to some Fundies this discovery is an act of Satan. But according to other ones this was all part of god's plan and there's even evidence for the Bible if you cherrypick quotes and pretend that Christians knew about it all before Science. (Seriously, I've seen them do this already.) I guess these clowns haven't gotten together to form a coherent narrative yet. Oh who am I kidding? they never have a coherent narrative.

Wait, I thought Satan was in control of Hollywood? Either Satan's getting lazy or God finally put in some effort to get some crap green-lit. So in order to keep people from flocking to the movies to think about God-kins, old Satan has to divert people's attention to the wonders of the universe and the power of learning and all that.... Sneaky, that Satan, alright.

I thought you people thought Noah wasn't true enough to the Bible? Besides, this is a discovery that will be discussed long after Noah has been forgotten.

Noah the 650 years old action hero. Bet they don't show any children drowning in this movie. Although it does have Ray Winston it it so it can't be all bad.

Well, I've spent a lifetime studying occult practices and researching necromancy, thaumaturgy, wizardry, witchery, demonology, supernatural enchantment etc and I'm still no closer to understanding how to make something with dust and spells. I think I'm gonna stick with science.

@Kuni as much as I would love to see that happen Ham and Comfort see eye to eye on the Noah thing and the hamster supports banana man's latest "film"
