A 39-year-old man accused of shooting and wounding five people in Alabama and Georgia told police his assaults were racially motivated, and he was targeting white men, a detective testified Monday.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported that a police detective testified in a preliminary hearing that Justin Tyran Roberts, who is Black, told police that white men had picked on him and wronged him for all his life.

Roberts appeared in court Monday in Columbus for a preliminary hearing in one of those incidents where a man was shot in the back as he was getting into his vehicle.
Lockhart testified that Roberts said, “I had to have him,” about one of the shooting victims.
Roberts also claimed that such men were “shooting at him in a wooded area with a slingshot,” and the wounds had infected his skin, Lockhart testified. But he said police saw no injuries to substantiate that.

Christians Against Christian Nationalism, a movement driven by church leaders and executives of faith-based groups, just put pen to paper to warn Americans that “Christian nationalism” is becoming a concern because, in their words, it often serves as a cover for “white supremacy and racial subjugation.”
Sounds dire. Until you peer past the curtain, that is.
This is a campaign led by far-left types who use their religious positions to push their far-left ideas.
This is a campaign filled with self-proclaiming Christians whose Christian ideals and beliefs are, in strict biblical teaching, very un-Christian.
Hmm. Suddenly, the “Christian nationalism” they spit on becomes a pin the proud patriot, and particularly, the proud Christian patriot, should wear.
Among the “Christians Against Christian Nationalism” endorsers: There’s the Rev. Dr. Paul Baxley, executive coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, who supported the CBF’s opening of doors to gay church employees.
There’s Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of the Network Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, who openly backed the pro-LGBTQ bill, H.R. 5, The Equality Act, that would have barred discrimination based on “sex, gender identity and sexual orientation” — and who denounced President Donald Trump’s crackdown on refugees as “antithetical to our faith.”
There’s Tony Campolo, a founder of the Red Letter Christian Movement, who called for “full acceptance of Christian gay couples into the church,” as he put it, in June of 2015.
There’s Patrick Carolan, executive director of Franciscan Action Network, who just joined with more than 100 civil rights activists and social justice leaders to “pledge solidarity with LGBTQ Catholic school teachers,” Metro Weekly reported.
There’s Paula Dempsey, director of partner relations with Alliance for Baptists, who in 2017 said her staff were “thrilled” at the hiring of a lesbian couple to serve as senior members of a Washington, D.C., church — and that she hoped other churches would “have ministers who would identify as members of the LGBTQ community.”

But the big question is this: Just how “Christian” is this “Christians Against Christian Nationalism” movement in the first place?
After all, if these CACN types see the Bible as their rally call to fight against borders — which is another way of bucking the rule of law — why can’t they see it’s this same Bible that makes clear homosexuality, to God, is an abomination?
Grain, meet salt.
Or maybe, more to the point, conservatives, meet the newest leftist attack. It’s far-left ideology masked as religious righteousness. And it’s as wicked as it is clever.
An example? Here’s one. So when CACN endorsers write that “conflating religious authority with political authority is idolatrous and often leads to oppression of minority and other marginalized groups,” they’re not referring, say, to Sharia law, and how its Muslim adherents, working within the confines of government, toss homosexuals off buildings, or publicly cane women for the crime of walking in public without a face covering. No. They’re talking about Christian conservatives who stand for the rule of law.
They’re talking about Christian conservatives who believe in traditional marriage.
They’re talking about Trump, his supporters and those who believe in border controls.
They’re trying to draw moral equivalencies between religions that behead those of different faiths and religions of those in the Republican Party.
CACN endorsers say this: “Patriotism does not require us to minimize our religious convictions.” And this: “People of all faiths and none have the right and responsibility to engage constructively in the public square.”
They mean this: “Leave Rep. Omar Ilhan alone.”
They forget this: America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, with an emphasis on both the importance of the individual and the concept of original sin that are spelled out in the Bible. From there sprang our governing documents.
Truly, it’s easy to keep Christian preaching out of the public square. It’s easy to confine the formal teaching of the Bible from a religious perspective to Sunday morning pews.
What’s not so easy, though, is to remove Judeo-Christian principles from our government — while still keeping the government our founders envisioned intact. Bluntly put, the country would crumble from within without its moral compass of Judeo-Christian teachings, without its base values of Ten Commandments principles, without its guiding belief of individual rights coming from God, not government.
Without its borders.
Without its traditions, and yes, traditional values. Traditional, biblically sound values.
Calling out such viewpoints as Christian nationalism, either subtly or overtly, is to deride our entire nation.

Because a war of attrition heavily favors their ultimate goals, Islamist terrorists have so far not been deterred by large numbers of their young men being killed. Life is cheap to them, even their own, and so they remain unmoved by their losses and still lust for power through murder. Their grass-roots support base, billions of Muslims world-wide, can still be counted on to largely support their efforts, even if only passively. If sufficiently humbled, then at some point the majority of Muslims might yet choose to abandon violence and stop their sons, or at least temporarily withdraw their jihadist forces to established realms of influence (just as the Turkish hordes did after being soundly defeated by the Polish cavalry). But any decision to withdraw will not come by either negotiation or accommodation, but only through abject humiliation and defeat. What form of defeat will suffice to convince Islam to put the Jihad genie back in the bottle is a subject of widespread debate. Pacifists blithely claim more therapy, understanding, and multiculturalism is the way, and will likely continue to spout such nonsense right up until the Halal knife slices their throat. They congratulate themselves for being so open-minded, oblivious that their brains have fallen out. Happily self-blinded by excessive relativism, they can no longer distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, or dark from light.
Those more personally touched by Islamic methods, and with the ability to realize you cannot create sweets from bile, often prefer methods of ‘total war’. In this war, victory will go to the party most effective in convincing the opposing party that surrender is preferable to a continuation of hostilities, and so victory will remain out of reach to us as long as the enablers and handlers remain safe. Muslim survivalists will only force the end to the terrorist activities springing up from amongst them when made to pay a terrible price. One ‘terrible price’ currently under debate is an nuclear attack on Mecca should any 9/11 scale attack (or larger) occur on US soil. I am in favor of such planning in the event of a catastrophic strike against America, because I believe the burden of loss needs to be shifted decidedly to fundamental Muslims themselves (and what they value most) if there is to be any hope of ending all this madness. To yield to Islamists demands and take the option off the table would be strategically stupid. Unfortunately, the only thing an insanity respects is greater insanity.
But as has been pointed out by Robert Spencer, Nuking Mecca could also be seen by Islamists as a weak action and could serve to unify Muslims and increase Jihad. But this is only true if not done properly and the city is left salvageable within a few years. Once devoted Muslims carry out their next major strike on America, the Mecca plan should be carried out without hesitation or warning. A Tulsa police officer was fired Wednesday morning, barely a month after graduating from the academy, after the Police Department learned of his past social media posts in support of waterboarding as an interrogation technique and expressing anti-government and anti-Islamic sentiments.

Screenshots show that Brown shared posts in 2013 from the “Oklahoma Volunteer Militia” that supported the Three Percenters movement, a group described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as loosely organized gun owners “who vow to resist gun control laws with force if necessary.”

German prosecutors say Hanau shooter had a 'deeply racist mentality'
Germany's attorney general has said the deadly shootings at two hookah bars were fueled by deep-seated racism. Investigations will focus on the suspect's possible connections, both in Germany and abroad.
Authorities Thursday confirmed the suspect behind two shootings in the central German city of Hanau, which left nine people dead and six more injured, showed signs of a "deeply racist mentality."
Germany's attorney general, Peter Frank, said a video and manifesto posted on the suspect's website expressed "not only crazy thoughts and convoluted conspiracy theories, but also a deeply racist mentality." He cited this as the reason for the attorney general's office to take over the investigation.
Prosecutors must now "find out, if there were any other supporters or accomplices in the Hanau attacks." Frank said prosecutors would look into the suspect's environment and known connections, both in Germany and in other countries.
The investigation would be led by the federal criminal police, Frank added.
A 43-year-old German man is the prime suspect in the attacks, which took place Wednesday night at two hookah bars. His body and that of his mother were found by police in his home, bringing the total death toll to 11. A weapon was found beside the two. Police encoutered the suspect's father uninjured, the attorney general's office said in a statement.
Federal prosecutors soon took over the investigation due to the severity of the case, as this prosecutorial level primarily handles cases of crimes against the state.
What do we know about the suspect?
A website registered under the same name as the suspect, as well as a homemade YouTube video expressing conspiracy theories and a confession letter said to include racist and xenophobic sentiments, were examined by police.
Information from the website claimed the owner was born in 1977 in Hanau, a city of 100,000 inhabitants located some 25 kilometers (15 miles) east of Frankfurt.
He claimed he grew up in the city and later trained at and worked in a bank before completing a business degree.
A press release from the attorney general's office said there was currently no knowledge of the suspect having had a prior criminal record or any investigations against him based on political leanings.
DW's political correspondent Hans Brandt said expert analysis of the suspect's data showed that he appeared to be a social loner who was actively involved in online conspiracy-theory groups.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials are looking for links to potential associates or groupings.
What do we know about the victims?
In talking with eyewitnesses on the ground in Hanau, DW's Rebecca Staudenmaier said the hookah bar where the first shooting took place was focal points for a local tight-knit Kurdish community, as well as a popular hangout for young people of all backgrounds.
Police have revealed few details about the victims. However, Yanki Pürsün, a lawmaker in the Hesse state parliament, told DW's Turkish service that three of the victims were of Turkish descent and five had a North African background.
[Attorney General Frank said that all nine individuals who were killed at the bars had immigrant backgrounds. He added that of the six people who were injured, one was in serious condition.
The attorney general's office statement added that the victims were between the ages of 21 and 44 and were of both German and foreign nationality.
Why did federal prosecutors get involved?
The federal prosecutor exclusively deals with serious crimes and is the highest prosecutory, or police authority in Germany. It primarily handles cases of crimes against the state, including treason, espionage and terrorism, and cases involving genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Right-wing attacks differ from other types of mass shootings and attacks because the perpetrators often have legal access to firearms, Nils Duquet, a senior researcher at the Flemish Peace Institute, told DW.
"It seems like the perpetrator had a hunting permit," he said. "What police forces have been noticing across Europe is that they fear that right-wing extremism is on the rise, and that these people can also have access to guns both legally and illegally. That raises the alarm."
What is the state of right-wing extremism in Germany?
The Hanau shootings are part of a trend of rising right-wing extremist activity in Germany. Last October, a far-right attack on a synagogue in Halle left two dead. In June the same year, regional conservative German politician Walter Lübcke, who had spoken out in favor of migration, was murdered in his home by a far-right extremist.
More recently, police conducted raids last week on right-wing militias suspected of planning xenophobic attacks and trying to create "civil war-like" conditions.
German authorities registered an increase in far-right extremist activity in 2019 and have announced amped-up intelligence efforts against those suspected of holding extremist views.
Yan San-Pierre, a security and counterterrorism expert in Frankfurt, told DW that there has been a recent proliferation of right-wing militia groups.
"We have seen over the past year numerous groups forming, over WhatsApp and smaller militia types aiming to defend German against invaders … More and more of these groups have been popping up," San-Pierre said.
He added that the sentiments expressed by the suspect in the Hanau shootings were "very much in line with what's been said in Halle and before in Christchurch [New Zealand] and other letters and statements that have been found in connection with right-wing attacks."
Judge Patrick Field called Daniel Harris, 19, "highly dangerous" and a "propagandist for an extremist right-wing ideology"
"You were in close touch with other right-wing extremists online and there can be little doubt that you shared ideas between you"[…]
Harris was found guilty in December of five counts of encouraging terrorism and one count of possession of material for terrorist purposes, for trying to make a gun with a 3D printer
The judge at Manchester Crown Court in northern England sentenced Harris to 11 and a half years, with a further three years under supervised probation
The court heard that the teenager from Derbyshire in central England posted videos online for over a year, from the age of 17
Harris reportedly posted under the name BookAnon on a platform called World Truth Videos
His videos were shared by self-declared white supremacist Payton Gendron, who has pleaded guilty to murdering 10 black people[…]
Prosecutors said a link was also found between Harris's videos and Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, the sole suspect in a shooting in a gay nightclub in the US city of Colorado Springs in November 2022
The prosecutor said that one of Harris's videos was posted on a "brother site" to one showing a livestream of Aldrich before the attack[…]
The court was told one of Harris's videos, titled "How to Achieve Victory", called for "total extermination of sub-humans once and for all"
Another video paid homage to the white supremacist murderer of British MP Jo Cox in 2016
He also praised the Australian white supremacist who murdered 51 Muslim people in New Zealand mosques in 2019 as a "saint"[…]
Harris was placed in a government deradicalisation programme, but Counter-Terrorism Policing detective inspector Chris Brett said he continued to post extremist material
"Harris was ultimately deemed not to have been groomed, rather his provocative words and inflammatory films were potentially radicalising others"
I don't know what to make of the Catholic Church. They wear small hats, have a weird obsession with making lots and lots of money, constantly engage in strange sexual perversions, live in a tiny, tiny little nation state, are constantly tricking larger military superpowers into waging war against each other, and are constantly the only ones who ever profit from these wars of conquest that the larger superpowers fight.
Does that fit the profile of any other group we know?
People talk about Martin Luther, but nobody ever mentions who Luther's papal counter-party was -- Pope Leo X, a Jewish Pope from the House of Medici who literally purchased the Papacy for himself after the Medicis were kicked out of Florence during one of the Jewish expulsions.
The Catholic Church has been compromised and in Jewish hands for a long time, but I don't know if it's *consistently* been in Jewish hands, or if a behind-the-scenes battle wages where different factions take power from one another. I suspect even the famous Knights Templar were (secretly) Jews sneaking around in Christian costumes -- when's the last time you heard about a group of "Christian" knights inventing modern international banking as we know it?
Whether Jewish or not, I suspect the Catholic Church has always been a simulation of an older, more authentic style of Christianity, on whose foundations it's been built. It's preserved many of those Christian traditions quite well (the Mass, the Eucharist, the feast days, the architecture), but it's always been semi-compromised even from day one. I think the true history of the Catholic Church is yet to be told, and once we learn it, we'll see it's something very different than what we've been led to believe (even by the "alternative" press).
It’s weird to me that the ones THE MESSAGE is pandering to fall for it so easily
What I mean is that it’s just so insincere. These movies or shows or games with marketing completely built around having a diverse character a gay character a trans character whatever it is. That’s always almost a guaranteed red flag that the show will have no substance at all and is just going for easy brownie points and a perfect shield to block any criticism. Is that really the kind of representation you’d want? Women want those cardboard cutout perfect at absolutely everything with no struggles at all girl boss characters? A black person wants to see a white character race swapped instead of an original well written character who was intended to be black from the start?
I think the word work has started to lose some meaning with how much it’s passed around, but I think to a lot of people like myself it’s referring to that right there. I think of something like Everything Everywhere All At Once which is about a conservative mother and her struggle to understand her daughter’s world. Arcane is a female driven show with a lesbian as one of the leads. Fallout show we just got has a female lead and I’m pretty sure a trans or no gender or one of those kind of things on the Brotherhood of Steel.
I’ve pretty much not at all heard woke tossed at these things or complaints about female driven stories or any such things. Because they aren’t created to shove a message down your throat and get effortless praise they actually care about these characters. People aren’t inherently shut down to ever accepting these stories they just want them to be written well.
I would just think the ones that they want to represent in these instances would appreciate such examples a hell of a lot more and not so easily be sucked in by something with absolutely no soul like The Little Mermaid remake. Sometimes it feels like a battle that can never be won. No matter how much we try to push back the crap just keeps coming and so many people just keep eating it up with a smile.
There is a real definition, it just goes unacknowledged because it is seen as "harmful". Canadians are those who were either born here or naturalized WITH western European ancestry.
Finance Minister and member of the security cabinet Bezalel Smotrich called on Monday for annihilating Israel's enemies, saying "There are no half measures.
